Police this afternoon arrested John William Lomax, 21, of Bloomfield, Connecticut in connection with the stabbing death of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard.
Allegedly, on October 18 after the Huskies' 38-25 win over Louisville, Howard was out with friends at a club on the UConn campus. Outside the club, Howard and Lomax got into a fight resulting in Howard being stabbed to death.
Lomax is being charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault. He is being held on $2 million cash bail. Two other Connecticut men, Hakim Muhammed, 20, also of Bloomfield, and James Todd, 21, of Hartford, are also being charged in the incident.
Howard, a cornerback, had gotten the game ball for his play in the game and was leading the Big East in punt returns for the year. He died following the incident from a single stab wound to the abdomen. He was laid to rest in Miami on Monday.
