Please come forward and help me out with the specifics here.
I know of six things that could be but not necessarily need to be included in a work of non-fiction these are as follows: 1) a Dedication, 2) a Prologue or Prelude 3) Table of Contents or Chapters; 4) List of Illustrations; 5) Appendices; 6) Index and or references My question is what are the differences between each, specifically prologue, prelude (?), and a foreward ?
I am certain this list is shortened by half if not all 'cept the chapters or dedication steps in a work of fiction, correct ? I want to be sure, as when I submit this next manuscript as a whole, it won't be rejected as often as I believe it might. I find the best sources to extract this information from is those that have had first-hand experience with an agent or with a publishing company that does not use agents but assistants in the publishing process--from galley to finished production.
My 1st installment, which I am trying to figure out should be either the prelude or a paragraph out of the first chapter is a share here at gather titled, "Prologue or 1st chapter ?" Might you read it and assist me with that query as well as guide me in the proper direction of this one ?
Thank you and I await your assistance . . .
