If you know me, you know I am obsessed (in the absolute best way possible!!) with the number 26. It’s just so beautiful!! Today I am turning 27. 26 was a fabulous year, but it is a bittersweet one to leave. I waited my whole life to become the age and the year flew by! I only got to tell someone I was “26 years old” a handful of times!
Continuing on my identity love, my name Katherine means pure. And my last name Younger, well, that’s an easy one to translate J I’ve always loved the concept of purity (in the clean sense, not the naïve sense) so here are Kath’s 26 Ways To Stay Young + Pure:
1. Spend as much time in nature as you can, even if it’s raining.
2. Eat Real Food.
3. Do yoga. Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day.
4. Make an effort to cook simple foods – like beans – from scratch. Get the complicated stuff pre-made.
5. Go hiking and soak up the smells of fall.
6. Go see the movie Where The Wild Things Are!
7. The next time you go shopping, fill your cart and then empty it to only the necessities. Simplify.
8. Turn on music while you clean.
9. Read a book (or just the newspaper) or sing aloud to your cat or dog.
10. Trade shoulder massages with your roommate.
11. Hand-write thank you notes.
12. Babysit so you can get paid to play.
13. Put lemon in your water.
14. Roll in fall leaves.
15. “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants” – Michael Pollan
16. Crunch through an apple while doing nothing else.
17. De-clutter your house one nook at a time. If you question whether you should keep something, you probably don’t need it.
18. Be kind on the interstate. Let someone pass you.
19. Take 5 deep breathes RIGHT NOW.
20. Re-watch your favorite childhood movies, like Home Alone and E.T.
21. Write down all the things you need to do in a pretty notebook with a pretty pen. They will seem less daunting.
22. Visit a boutique, antique store or cooking store and don’t buy a single thing.
23. The next time you’re in a bookstore or library, go read a picture book.
24. Get up early and watch the sunrise.
25. Eat more pumpkin.
26. Laugh. Everyday. Even if you have to Google “good jokes” to do so!
How do you guys stay young + pure?
