I am heading out this afternoon to help with an event to help the school children in our area. I have a friend who volunteers with one of the schools and she needs my assistance. I am always willing to help worthy projects and this should begin at home.
Volunteering? What needs to be done in our individual communities? Do your schools need someone to help the teachers in the classroom? Can you help at your animal shelter? Are there facilities where elder people are residing who have no family and need visitors? Given a little thought, there are many other areas where we can make a difference. One thing that is important here is that volunteering in the community is something that was happening long before President Barack Obama. He is just a good example of what can be accomplished as a community organizer. Together we can do great things.
What can you do to make a difference in your community?

Have a wonderful day.
But for the grace of God go I.
I know that we have all been through difficult times and I hope things improve for you and everyone else. We are all working together for the common good of everyone.
Excellent Ideas Elizabeth !!
There is an "Economy" that is an economy of the heart, of good actions, of helping others, even with a smile and a kind word, even with a greeting.
The Social Economy makes the difference, between a World of Bad Demons, and a World of Angels. That is the first step for peace and harmony between all human beings.

The event was quite a success and has been established as an after school program. There are tutors to help the students with reading, science and math. Then they are teaching them how to handle their money so, as one little girl states, "so we don't get ripped offl"
You are so right about the Social Economy even though I never thought of it that way. Remember President George H. W. Bush and his thousand points of light? In retrospect, he was absolutely correct. Communities need to take the initiative and responsibility for the social programs and get the Federal government out of it. We can address the issues and handle the money so much better.
Blessings,
Elizabeth

From eveything that is being reported in the news we definitely need more people teaching parenting classes. That is definitely a wonderful service.
All your hard work is so appreciated and you make a difference.
Volunteers usually get back a lot more than they give in knowledge and satisfaction that they have done a good thing.
I still need to find my place in the community that does not involve political campaigns and, since there is always and election in California, that is going to be a challenge. However, these politicians are good contacts and it helps to get them involved. LOL!
Bless you.
