Amazingly a precedent has been established in the UK to tax Mormon Temples because they do not serve the purpose of providing a place for public worship. In a carefully worded decision British authorities denied tax exemption in 2008. The author suggests that local tax assessors look to the argument made in the UK in order to recover tax in the US and else where.

All churches have outreach programs that do benefit the public, non believers as well as non tithers.
