Well, I had the freezing done. Hope the cancer is gone!

Wednesday was my appointment, and man was I scared. I went in there, and the nurse talked to me the whole time. I felt the gas, and a big cramp that hurt (almost cried), and I go back next month to see what's up. I hope he got all the precancer out, and that it doesnt come back.

I am not sure if I know exactly what you had done, but I'm guessing a cryocautery? If its precancer and they caught it early, you have a good chance of being ok. I had that happen when I was 18, I'm nearly 31 and it never came back. I also have some friends and family members who had that happen as it is hereditary and they are all also fine. Many years ago it was not detectable, but now they catch it right away with proper care and they will probably have you come back alot, but once they are sure, you just go back to a yearly. You will be ok! :) I know you will be!!!

I love hearing stories like this, gives me more hope.

I dunno, on the paper from the doctor it says "you just had cyrosurgery (freezing) done to your cervix"

Yup, that's what I thought. If they caught it early and it was just cervical dysplasia, there is a huge chance you will be fine. I've never had a problem since. It happened right after I had my son, like 3 months after my 18th birthday, when I went for my 6 week checkup. I think when you get weak, like if you had a baby recently, in the past year, it pops up and there it is.

Agreed. A friend of mine had it done and she's had no further problems - 14 plus years ago when the procedure was relatively new.

Krystal, odds are very good that you will be fine with no further problems.

I had this done almost 20 years ago and 2 months after the cryosurgery, I got pregnant with my son.

This is why doctors are so adamant about getting an annual pap smear done...I have at times been so utterly broke I couldn't afford to sneeze hard much less go to the doctor but I always made sure I had an annual pap smear. Once you have an abnormal pap smear, you NEVER forget to have it done.

Hang in there...the more re-checks that go by without finding anything wrong, the more you will be able to relax.

Sorry to hear you are going through this, it sounds very stressful. I have a friend dealing with something that sounds similar. Hopefully they won't have to see you back anytime soon.

i have had precancer in both breast removed....... each time they have removed it all..... i was diagnosed with uterine cancer a week before my 21st birthday..... they cut it out.... it was caught early.......i have not had it come back.... i did have a hysterectomy when i was 39 but that was my choice.......it will be ok..... just keep on top of it.....

I remember the cramping having the biopsy done, but not with the freezing
I just had an IUD put in recently and that was major cramping...not only while doing it but about 2 days later too...sheesh!

You might want to check out Ralph P. Moss's free e-mail Cancer Decisions for more on this. It seems to me that many times "mainstream" medicine is overzealous in intruding and tearing into people -- which Dr. Mendelsohn ('Confessions of a Medical Heretic') once wrote about. Suzanne Somers was told she had lung cancer when she didn't, so definitely it can help to get a second opinion. And also make sure you are eating a healthy diet, and getting plenty of sunshine and moderate exercise, as these factors make a crucial difference. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
