Based on a novel series penned by L.J. Smith - you are given the insight into the diary of Elena Gilbert - this show follows a teenaged girl who falls for a young, old vampire at her school.
Four months after the tragic car accident that killed their parents, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert(Nina Dobrev) & her 15-year-old brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) are still trying to cope with their grief & move on with their lives.
Elena the star student with beauty, popularity & lots of school friend, finds herself struggling to hide her sadness from the world. As the school year begins, Elena and her friends are fascinated by a mysterious new student, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).
Stefan & Elena are immediately drawn to one another. But Elena has no way of knowing that Stefan is a centuries-old vampire, who is struggling to live peacefully among human beings. All the while his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is the total embodiment of a vampire who is full of violence and brutality & it has become his lifestyle.
These two Vampire brothers, one who is good & the other one who is evil , are both at war for Elena’s soul & for the souls of her friends, family & all the residents of the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

The Vampire Diaries is a CW series permeated with a sense of permissive darkness while still trying to deliver life lessons to teenage viewers. With brooding vampires, mixed with cute hip teens this series leads them in & out of destruction, heartfelt chaos, & enticing romantic interludes.
