My band Le Strange:A Tribute to All That Rocks! oepend the show for The Bird Dogs last weekend. We got to play two sets of gritty, slamming rock and tongue in cheek over the top rock anthems by Judas Priest, The Ramones, Great White, Foghat, Humble Pie y mucho mas.

There plenty of hot moms too! Ha ha. A woman even brought a shot of tequila to the dressing room for me. It felt pretty rock star. If she had been willing to take over housework my wife would have let me keep her. And there were no brown m&m's either. In fact, NO m&m's of any kind. We're more strict than Van Halen. The backstage area is a dark musty room with a stained couch. Glamorous! |

This show was The highest paying we've had yet and the venue's third biggest show of the year. The agent was thrilled. He likes rock but didn't think this kind of music could sell anymore. But there are no bands like us around here. Dopey, shameless, relentless. We've got kind of a comic book goofiness that gives people permission to have a guilty pleasure time.
It was so humid that night even my socks got wet. I had a wardrobe change into something even sweatier. The black shiny stuff. Debbie put me onto her new make up discovery: Bare Essentials. I tell ya, that stuff will not run! Its like its tattooed on.
A third of the room left after the headliner started and they continued to bleed audience thereafter. I hate to see that cuz I know how demoralizing it is to watch a mass exodus from the stage but we made it hard on them. As I like to say "we're an easy band to rise above but a hard act to follow."

The dance floor was a heaving mass of craziness all night. We let them rest up with an ad libbed rendition of Neil Young's Down by the River. We include a verse of Pink Floyd's Breathe in our version. Our only other slow number was a medley of The Thrill is Gone and Ain't No Sunshine when she's gone. I sing the BB part and double the melody on guitar. Donna sings the Bill Withers part. At the end we sing over each other. It sounds messy but the parts fit perfectly.
They dug our hot rodded Bay City Rollers hit Saturday Night. Our Judas Priest number has an "arena ending." Long, pretentious, indulgent, crossed guitar necks etc. I almost felt like smashing my guitar after.

End of the night. The road home.

I followed Nippy's comment here... great photos, Bret!
That's a lovely picture you painted there! :-)
Hey, I just noticed the recommended list of articles Gather has on the right hand top corner of this page... how in the world is Iran and nuclear fuel connected to your topic???
I rarely dance. I don't like too but our entire band was on the dance floor for the next band as cheerleaders
Real men seem to hate dancing. : - )
