Click here: "Operation Iraqi Baseball": Rachel Maddow Spearheads Support For National Team (VIDEO)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/16/operation-iraqi-baseball_n_235742.html
When Rachel Maddow reported a McClatchy story on Monday night about the Iraqi national baseball team, she didn't expect her brief mention of the team's dire financial straits "to be a huge deal."
However, in the days since the initial report, offers of financial assistance and shipments of much-needed uniforms and equipment came pouring in.
On Wednesday's show, Maddow called the response "overwhelming and honestly heartwarming." Her show, in conjunction with donors and the assistant coach of the team, is currently at work shipping the equipment to the team by Friday.
While the outpouring of support more than provided for the gear the team needed, Maddow urged viewers not to let "the generous impulse [they] had towards these Iraqi baseball players go to waste."
To that end, a link has been posted on the show's website to Operation Give, an organization which provides humanitarian aid to combat zones.

I'm sure, like Obama, they will be slammed for their altruism now.
We never knew Maddow or her family though.
Best thing about the town is that it's dominated by fundamentalist Christians. Two of the largest non-denominational fundamentalist churches in the Bay Area are there. One of them has 3 giant crosses, each maybe 100 feet tall, in front of the building that are the first thing people driving on the freeway see when they enter town when going east.
I watch Maddow mostly for entertainment. I get a little bored by the interviews with people from advocacy groups but she also has some guests who do interesting news analysis. I don't understand why she doesn't need to yell and scream though. Her counterparts on F** seem to think that it's required.
I've always been cynical. When I was demonstrating against the war in Viet Nam I though that there were a lot of radical leaders who were out for themselves even though I agreed with them politically.
