I watched Age of Innocence tonight starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Danial Day Lewis. I really enjoyed it too, the back and forth between the two forbidden lovers... who though unbuttoning a glove could be so sensual...
Basically, Lewis is a lawyer who's falls deeply in-love with his fiance's cousin (Pfeiffer) after Pfeiffer leaves her husband because of infidelity.
However, the ending was soooo disappointing to me. As the last scene wrapped up, I found my mind drifted and created my own happy ending. I'm not one for rainbows and sunshine all the time and I don't need that in movies or books BUT to end it in such a way, clearly the director intended the viewer to ponder upon what happens next.
Basically, I would rather movies end in death, as in the death of all hope, life, etc. or for a movie to end in sunshine and rainbows. When a movie ends the way this one did, I scoff. That's my personal opinion.
It's an older film and if you haven't read the book or want to know the ending to this movie, PM me and I'll give you the details but I don't want to ruin it for any who may want to see it.

you acted on what could've been and made it a reality!
The thing about the ending is nothing good could possibly have happened. There should have been bloodshed, but that would have been "unseemly". Protestant New York society managed to squelch all the emotion within a hundred miles of the chemical spark between Day-Lewis and Pfeiffer. I could have wished for more screen chemistry between the lovers, though. Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner would have made that glove burst into flame.
i was shouting at the tv, "just walk into the building!!!"
i can see how conforming to any kind of norm would demoralize a person into a puppet but for god's sake when you're 60, grow some balls and take that frigging leap!!!
I havent seen it yet!! I do not know if i will since Larry is not into those movies.
PLEASE try The Last of The Mohicans w/ Daniel Day Lewis... it makes me cry each time... i love that one!!!
and SAM w/ pfiffer was good, there are a few others.
don't write off these great talents because of a poor script.
please at least watch last of the Mohicans!!!
