The Cajun Circus – Falling Into Autumn
About a month after our annual trip to Minnesota, we pulled out the paint brushes and started the nasty task of painting our house. The infamous ice storm of late January had left a lot of damage and while repairing the “Cajun green” roof our roofer had done a few needed repairs which require white primer. Not wanting a polka dotted house we decided it was time. You'll never know how much we appreciated the help of dear daughter and her hubby who drove all the way from Minnesota to help with this project.
My “Duct-Haggis Paint Shoes”. Crazy huh? Well, I wore these on my very first trip to Scotland in 97', think it's time for a new pair, eh? Errr, maybe it's also time for a trip back to the Highlands?
All done!

Project finished, we loaded up the car and treated the kids to a weekend in Branson. Branson isn't Branson without a stop at Dick's 5 & 10 where we loaded up with some cool, scrumpdillyishous red wax lips and donned our sequined 70's hats.
Ooooooo sexy!
Botox anyone?
House painting finished my Cajun decided it was time to clutter up the beautiful deck by building a pirogue. When asked where he was gonna use it in this neck of the woods he just kinda shrugged and smiled. I suggested we move back to Minnesota and put it to good use as a toboggan? He didn't think that was funny...;)

Grandson BB has a heckuva time with anything different in Granny's house. It's always sposed to stay the same and believe me if he sees something different I hear about. “Granny, why did ya move the chicken teapot?” Gads!! Consequently, I'd put off redecorating the room he'd lived in during the 18 months he'd stayed with us. But the transformer blue, gray and red just wasn't doing it! We've talked often about “growing up”, afterall he's in 1st grade now, so I was hoping the Big Boy Room would cut the mustard. It did, he was thrilled! Not so much with the basics of chocolate brown or tan and manly checkered bedspread, but rather the Halloween décor of lit punkins, gummy eyeballs, skeletons and spooky webs. KIDS!
During the second week of October BB's Dad (my son) came all the way from Vegas to spend a long weekend. We visited Wal-Mart in search of the perfect toy, ate corn dogs, visited Roaring River and attended the circus.
At Roaring River Fish Hatchery, Missouri

Birthday time!! Mine. AND no, I'm not gonna tell you how many candles were on this years cake. Only know, some days I feel like 16 others 58...ooooppps! The photos are of my special gifts, one given to me by my dear daughter, another by my BB and last but not least my BFF. Note the crystal angel in the first photo, it's from my son who gave it to me at the age of 6, his son, BB (age 6), presented me with the “Grandmother” Willow Tree figurine...treasures of the heart, fer sure!

From my BFF, Colleen. Unusual huh? An Edible Arrangement. Only one word for this one, YUMMMY!
