Alex Rider is a reluctant teenage spy who works for Britain’s MI6 and unlike James Bond, does not have a license to kill. Instead, he uses his wits and cool gadgets to incapacitate the bad guys. Crocodile Tears: An Alex Rider Adventure (#8) feels ripped from the headlines, with a charity broker con artist raising millions of dollars in donations, only to invest them in a form of genetically modified wheat that has the power to release an airborne strain of virus so powerful, it can knock out an entire country in one windy day – a catastrophe so far-reaching that it would raise millions of dollars more in charitable donations, all of which would be embezzled by one man. The antidote? Alex Rider, of course, who survives gunfire, explosions, and hand-to-combat with mercenaries – just another day in the life of an average teen super-spy kid.
The Alex Rider Adventures have already spent over a year on the New York Times best seller list with sales of over 5 million in the US as well as being on the New York Times “Best Kids’ Books Ever” list.

Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is another favorite. I love the movie with Dick Van Dkye, it is one film I could watch over and over ... "truly scrumtious"
My favorite adventure book as a child was actually a series called Puk about a young girl, who was sent of to boarding school, where she found many adventures. It was a Danish series, and the books had been passed down to me by my mother, so they were extra special in that sense.
And boy, my son is going to be happy another Alex Rider book is out. He loves the series.
Not far behind was any of The Boxcar children books. #67 was my favorite though.
My favorite adventure book was Drangons dawn by Ann McCaffrey
I also loved Goosebumps, the Sweet Valley High series and Baby Sitters Club- some friends and I even tried to start our own baby sitters club! I read every single one of all three series while I was growing up- I couldn't get enough edge-of-your-seat adventure, scares, lessons and adventures of friendship reading these books. I don't think I could just choose one favorite!
Grimm's Fairy Tales, Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Alfred Hitchcock, and Ellery Queen (my mom got those digest size books).
And anything that had a horse in it!!!! Black Beauty, etc.
My son is so into these type of books he would love the chance to read this :)
I also love the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn!
