Now this is an opinion that will make me more than a little un-popular with my 3 dedicated fans. But this is my opinion and if you think a little bit I may just change your mind.
Here are the facts in a nut shell as I interpret them in my infinite wisdom as a 40 yr old unaccomplished, fat, bald guy.

This is Roman Polanski.
He pled guilty to a sex crime involving
Samantha Geimer

After 25 years he was arrested in Switzerland and is fighting extradition, back to the good old USA to do his time in prison.

I don't think we should extradite him, and I'll explain why.
Now I'm sure that lots of feminists are already getting there panties all worked up but before you get too excited let me explain why.
I'm not saying that the guy isn't guilty. I'm not saying what he did was right. Im not saying sex with children is ok. I'm not saying that Samantha Geimer isn't a victim.

I don't know what happened and to me it doesn't make any difference at all.
If it was consensual I don't care. If he threw her down and took the pussy I don't care. If she says he is forgiven I don't care. If she says I want his balls served on a platter I don't care. If he is the most talented director to ever bless us with a movie I don't care. If he was a lowly janitor, guess what? That's right.I don't care......

(Me not caring.....)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally insensitive. I care about women. I care about sex crimes. I know several women and would do anything to protect and or defend any of them. Hell I would protect a complete stranger who was being sexually assaulted or exploited, that's the way I roll.
I care so much about sex crimes and women that if there is anyone capable and convicted of hurting someone sexually, I want him as far away from my Country, and women, and society in general, that I would do anything to keep him away....
If you feel the same way then I need to ask you this.
Why would we want ti import a sex offender? What is to be gained by extraditing this criminal? Lets look at what it will accomplish. We will get to spend at least 30K per year to keep him incarcerated for however long we sentence him and then when we are done we don't even have the option to send him back!
No matter how much time he does in an American prison the damage can't be undone. Once you realize, and actually accept the fact that society can't undo what Polanski has done then you have to ask yourself what we hope to accomplish here. The milk can't be un-spilled, the pussy can not be un-tapped.
It is in my humble opinion that the good old USA already has plenty of ingrates and sex offenders.
My thoughts are that we post his name with the border agents and if he ever comes back we lock him up and in the mean time we hope to god that he doesn't. This is a fricking blessing, not unlike a bad dog running away from home.
What we need to do is put his dish away, snd just forget the whole damn thing.
Volvos, chocolate, and watches are all fine imports. Sex Offenders are not.

Statutory rape. Isn't that kinda like when someone else is telling young men and woman who they are allowed to have sex with/make love to and who they are not allowed to have sex with/make love to. Would you want someone to tell you who you could do it with and who you couldn't. Well today, I think it is a little more harsh then it used to be. I've heard that today, even if two minors have consensual sex, one of them can be convicted for statutory rape. It doesn't happen often and it is almost always the male who is convicted of the "crime." But honestly, their are laws in America that require minors to be a certain age before they are legally considered adults. Eighteen, isn't it? The same age for everyone? It's an arbitrary figure. I have always thought of the determining factor for adulthood as bioloigical, not chronological with a good dose of consideration for the emotional maturity of the individuals involved.
In the case of statutory rape, I think it should be seen more in terms of an older man having sex with a younger woman, instead of the commision of a crime.
Roman Polansky made some movies that a lot of Americans liked. He was famous in America as a matter of fact for his movies. Who would want to lock a man like that up for doing something with someone else that the other person wanted him to do, or at in any case who liked what he was doing, even if someone else's (societies laws) said he shouldn't be doing it. There is no single majic age at which women somehow automatically become adults and it goes without saying that the same thing is true of men.
He has ran for so long, why just forget about the whole thing?
Is someone of "power" beyond our laws? What about the next guy who is in "power" does such a thing. Should we just let him go too? If these people have money, influence, friends just let them do whatever they like without consequences?
Common you know better then this. Are country is not based off the "upper class" breaking the laws of this land and walking across a boarder and all is fine. Or is it just those who walk across our boarders who do not have friends, money, influence we should go after??
It is principles here. Who is beyond our laws, that guy, that guy over there? Why not you, why not me??
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that US citizens are safe from this person because he isn't here. Is prison about punishment or protecting society? If it's about punishment only then we are only after revenge. This makes us as a people little better then the 5yr old that hits another 5 yr old while saying he hit me first. His power doesn't influence me at all. I want to protect society from sex offenders and by leaving him where ever he is and banning him from the US we can accomplish this goal much easier than by throwing money at it and bringing him back to the US. We are not the police of the world and out duty to our citizens stops at our border in this situation.
I can see your point. I doubt he wants to come back to America, he is where he wants to be. He just wants Americans money..... and you do have a point, it would keep his sperm away from American little girls.
We lose-lose.
Child abusers are not considered even something good in prisons lol. Prisoners have kids too.
Isn't America great, where we can disagree on issues! It tickles me to no end!!
By that reasoning it's pointless to put anyone in prison.
Then I saw a news story back when this fiasco first began and the only reason I can see for letting this one drop is that the so called 'VICTIM' herself publicly stated that she wanted to let the matter drop, she had no interest in it, it was not rape in her case even though she was under age and she harbored no ill will against the man.
I feel there are too many people seeking their 15 minutes of fame in this and want to be known as the Judge, Prosecutor, Arresting Officer, etc., who helped to put this famous man away.
