HWH Newsletter #3 - The Halloween Issue Thanks for letting me into your inbox with another issue. As before, I encourage forwarding this newsletter to anyone who might enjoy it or be interested in my novels. And as always, there's a "remove me" link at the bottom that will unsubscribe you in a flash. I only want to send this to folks who want to get it. I hope you'll remain one of those folks. Dark Knowledge has E-arrived! Today is the official eBook release of Dark Knowledge. There's a little bit about it under its cover to the right. To learn more about it or to read an excerpt, visit my website (www.keithpyeatt.com) or Dark Knowledge's page on my publisher's website here. Buzz Me Again? My newsletter readers were great to spread the word when Struck was released. I sold books to people who learned about my novel from your forwarded emails. I hope you'll help me again and spread a little buzz Dark Knowledge's way. Thanks in advance. What the Heck is an eBook anyway? Yeah, it's new for me too, but eBooks are a growing market, thanks in part to more readers coming out with lower price tags. eBooks themselves are usually inexpensive (Dark Knowledge is a good-sized novel, and it sells for $5.50) and can be read off a computer screen, a laptop, various eBook readers, or palm pilots and organizers. They're either downloaded directly to an eBook reader or to a computer to be read off the screen or printed out. As for the eBook Readers... Amazon's Kindle is probably the best known. I asked for one for my birthday, so if I was a good horror author this year, perhaps I can tell you more about it in my next newsletter. The Sony reader is another good option, and there are others. A POWER AWAKENS, A DESTINY BEGINS
| More fun with Struck I'm having a wonderful time with Struck. It's selling well, I still love getting reader input in person, by email, and especially reviews posted at Amazon and B&N. I'm doing quite a bit of public speaking at various events, and my talks are well received and often lead to book sales. I had my first bookstore book signing and set a new record for the store in single title sales (yes!). Struck's professional reviews (like this one from The Compulsive Reader) continue to be glowing. On top of all that, Struck was named a finalist in three of its categories in the 2009 New Mexico Book Awards. Yahoo! My next booksigning is on Halloween eve in Abq at the Hastings at Juan Tabo and Lomas, 4 - 8 PM. Come say boo! Wrap it up Remember: Struck makes a great gift. My publisher has it discounted $4 in a Halloween sale, and Amazon usually offers a deep discount. If you want to give a signed copy as a gift, order it through my website, and I'll pay postage. There's a place on the order form where you can let me know if you want it signed to someone or if you just want my signature. |
A Horror Writer's Halloween Craving
I can satisfy either of your desires, but you must choose which. Don't rush your decision. First, acknowledge your hungers. Listen to their moans but also understand hunger is only the ache of desire. Feel the ache. Follow it inside yourself, look upon your true desires, and then choose which hunger to feed. I'll abide by your decision. Come scare me on my doorstep, and I'll give you chocolate. Summon me, and I'll satisfy both of our deeper cravings. Don't be shocked to learn of my Halloween feedings. When you think about it, satisfying this craving isn't all that different from what I do every other day of the year. The characters in my novels don't change beyond the pages. If I leave them at 22, they remain 22 forever, ageless and immortal--unless I kill them in edits or delete their entire existence, evaporating them like they were never born. The only difference on Halloween is that the immortals left behind aren't created, they're transformed. They are, however, still mine. So I ask you again to understand your true desires. If mortality has become a burden, if endless youth beckons, this is the night I can help you. No need to call. Once you decide, just concentrate on the pulse in your neck. Close your eyes, and drown out all other thoughts until you hear the blood surge with each pump of your heart. When you feel my presence, you have a choice to make. No, not the one you're thinking. You've already made that decision. But you can choose whether to experience your transformation or not. Open your eyes and look into mine, and I'll make sure you remember it only as a vague dream. But to experience the orgasm of change, keep your eyes closed when you feel my hot breath on your neck, my tongue tasting your skin. There will be some pain upon penetration--I can't help that--but then I'll begin sucking. It'll be over before you want it to be. I promise. |
| And with a big thanks to Cullan Hudson of Fresh Eire Designs for vampirizing my photo, that ends my Halloween newsletter. I'll email the next issue in December. Until then, please stay in touch. I'm easy to find. Use those links to the right or come to one of my appearances. Thanks for all your support. | Website Blog Email | Facebook MySpace Twitter |

May this Halloween fulfill what you desire most, be it candy or eternal youth, but be careful. With either satisfaction comes a price: empty calories or an empty soul.
