BUCKET OF TRUTH
After a 13-inning win in Game 2 on a late fielding mistake by the Angels, once again these two powerhouses went to extra innings to get it done. This time the Angels won it late. After Yankees manager Joe Girardi pulled Dave Robertson for Alfredo Aceves, Aceves proceeded to give up a single to Howie Kendrick and then a game-winning hit from catcher Jeff Mathis. The Angels win 5-4, 2-1 Yankees now in the series...
The game was an absolute slugfest early on, with Yankee home runs coming from Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and of course, Alex Rodriguez. The Angels got the long-ball going too with home runs coming from Howie Kendrick and Vlad Guerrero.
The game got very interesting in the Angels half of the 10th when Jeff Mathis led off the inning with a double. Interestingly enough, Angels manager Mike Scoscia chose not to pinch-run for Mathis. After a bunt by Erick Aybar, Mariano Rivera fielded the ball and threw it away. The Angels werent able to capitalize though...
Later, of course they did.
