I've always wanted to go to San Francisco. This is just making me want it more. I have a friend who lives outside of S.F. My parents went there when I was 14 and brought me back Ghiradelli chocolate. At that time you couldn't find it in supermarkets. It was a delicious present.

I wanted to live in San Francisco when I was in 3rd grade. Ghiradelli chocolate is decedant! Hope you get to make that trip.

Thank you, Kushal. Next time we are going to spend time at Pier 41 as the rest of the city is more accessible from there. I did live in this city for several years.

Wish you could have joined us, Dianna. We would have had a great time. There are parts of San Francisco that I like better than Pier 39 but I went with a group of ladies who haven't lived in the city. If you ever get out this way I will certainly show you around or help you locate places of interest.

i love the san francisco area. my kids always enjoyed pier 39. everyone loves the chowder in the sourdough bread.

Pier 39 is a fun place. There are some interesting shops and restaurants.

The best clam chowder I ever had was made by a friend. I don't have her recipe but she it is wonderful. Then there Mama Mia's in Felton, CA that makes absolutely fantastic clam chowder. What makes me like these soups best? Although they are New England style, these aren't so heavy with the cream or overly salted.

Love sourdough bread. I have even had it used in dressing as in turkey dressing. It's totally awesome!
