rest assured Carol they have not banned them yet they are just considering it. It has to do with energy usage not the size of the tv.

If someone would make a big screen that is also energy efficient CA would have it made.

Interesting. Is this the California that's west of Nevada and Arizona and south of Oregon. That's where I live. I'm not perfectly well informed but neither TV news nor the San Francisco Chronicle have covered this. There is a proposal by the California Energy Commission to reduce the energy consumed by TVs sold in CA beginning in 2011. The proposal is up for approval next month. See the CNET story here

That's because it's not being told truthfully here, Nippy. The regulation in question would ban the sale of energy-inefficient widescreens, which is probably the one you referenced (I can't get the link to open up properly). A little misrepresentation makes for a very slightly more interesting paragraph, I suppose.

You really ought to look at the water problem in California more thoroughly. It's a lot more complex than the Delta Smelt.

I see that the state GOP is now trying to use the drought to register agricultural workers in the Central Valley. Their "drill, baby, drill" solution there is "open the dams." They're trying to get people to believe that there's a secret stash of water behind the state's dams. Apparently they have insider knowledge about the state's water reserves that hasn't been made public. :)

So Poliwink I think you should fight this ban and while you are at it get rid of Prop 8.

After all we dont want the government to tell us who can and cant get married and ban some from doing so...right?

California, although it has a large number of Democratic registered voters, is hardly a bastion of socialism. It's fascinating how in spite of polls showing the voters' complete contempt for the governor and legislature that they're against changing any of the conservative backed state laws that are the source of most of the state's present fiscal crisis.

Paradoxical Republic is probably more accurate.
