Is the Anti-Christ here on earth yet?

I often wonder about this and I hear a lot of different comments about it being Obama that may or may not be true...sometimes, his charisma with a lot of people and the way they describe how they feel about him, makes me think it is a possibility...

ahhh, but I can hear some of you saying, "scripture is just fairy tales" right?

You have the right to your own opinion...I choose to believe all that God says will come true, will in fact, come true...

Now, I don't know who the Anti-Christ is...all of it is mere speculation anyway, because only God knows, but if God was trying to tell us who he was, would we listen???

Well, if these things don't make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, I don't know what would...it's creepy at the very least, and very frightening, at worst.

I am anxious to know how many other people would fit these descriptions ...???

Personally and according to Scripture, I don't believe that obama is the antichrist. However, his actions and lack of same very much appear to be setting the stage for joining with and surrendering to a world government and of America's liberties.. God warns of a world leader who will rise and grow in power. This coming world leader has been given around 33 names and titles (which describe attributes) in the Bible (both in the Old and New Testaments) ... one of which is the 'Antichrist.' The Bible says this man will not be revealed until after the 'Restrainer' (the Holy Spirit - including the body of believers alive at the time) is 'removed' (as a note, some believe it might also include the U.S. being 'removed' from its role as a restraining world power). This coming world leader (the Antichrist) will begin by exerting control over ten nations which were once part of the Roman Empire (most likely European) . .This man will quickly consolidate power over 10 nations (probably European) and then over the whole world through treaties and war. God warns that this man will be empowered by satan. He will lead the world into the terrors of the Apocalypse.
The world will soon get the leader it seems to be longing and waiting for. A powerful leader who will be popular, attractive, charismatic, and a great talker whose many words will NOT be chosen for truth, but for lies and deception.

This future world leader will be satan’s counterfeit Christ (Messiah.) This coming leader will be very, very popular in the eyes of the world. The world will love him. The world will see him as a great leader, a man of "peace," and a "messiah." While God sees this man as a lying, evil, vicious, and bloodthirsty . . . "Beast."

We are told quite a bit about this coming world leader, satan’s counterfeit messiah, who will someday soon rise in power . . .

- He will be indwelt and empowered by Satan

- He will rise to power over 10 nations [from the old Roman Empire ... Europe?!]

- He will somehow be 'diverse from the rest' so we are not certain he will be European

- He will appear to bring peace, yet conquer through treaties and war

- He will be very, very popular around the world

- He will be a great talker and speech maker

- He will likely be charismatic and physically attractive, like King Saul

- He will receive what appears to be a fatal wound to the head

- He will appear to be resurrected from the dead

- His right eye may be blinded and his arm completely withered

- He will enforce a "peace" plan or resolution [covenant] upon the nation of Israel

[It doesn’t say he signs this treaty, but he enforces some coming 'peace plan' or resolution]

- He may help to get the new Jewish Temple built in Jerusalem

- He will appear to perform miracles ("lying signs and wonders")

- He will require that everybody on Earth receive a mark or identification on their
orehead or hand and nobody will legally be able to buy or sell without it

- He will eventually stand in the new Jewish Temple in Jerusalem and declare that he is "God"

- Unspeakable terror and war will then engulf Earth for exactly 3½ years (1260 days)

- He will direct the slaughter of millions of Christians and Jews

- He will lead the armies of the world into Israel . . . Armageddon.

"He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave,

to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark,

or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

(Rev 13:16-17)

This prophecy is very crucial for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and will be alive when this law is enacted and enforced. This "mark" may be some kind of tatoo, or implanted microchip with all of your credit card and banking information, we really don’t know right now. It will not be easy to refuse this mark, whatever it is, for many of you will have families and children that will need to be fed. But, please be warned . . . by taking this mark, you will have sealed your eternal fate in Hell. In God’s eyes it identifies you with the Antichrist. There will be no turning back for any who take the "mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name." The utter darkness, loneliness, and torments of Hell will be their fate. Blessings are promised in Heaven to all those who refuse to take the "mark" and refuse to bow down to this coming world leader . . . and die in their faith for doing so. The Lord will take the sting out of death.

"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast [the Antichrist], for it is the number of a man: His number is 666."(Rev 13:18)

How's this for weird? After I submitted this post...I was looking around on my home page and I noticed that as of my subission of this post, my points were at 665, so that the very next comment AFTER my subission of this post would give me 666 points! WOW! Sandy, yours was it!
Elizabeth M Oct 19, 2009, 5:23pm EDT
I really think God is saying something.
Sunaura *. Oct 20, 2009, 12:39pm EDT
Sandy and John 666 - oh my!
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 3:31pm EDT
Well, it defintely says there's a possibility that Sandy was exactly correct, doesn't it?
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 4:53pm EDT
His right eye may be blinded and his arm completely withered

I know he is black but I had no idea that he is also blind with a gimp arm.

I noticed that as of my subission of this post, my points were at 665, so that the very next comment AFTER my subission of this post would give me 666 points! WOW! Sandy, yours was it!

No, it would not. You don't get a point per comment.
Elizabeth M Oct 21, 2009, 9:12pm EDT
how many do you get? if it is 2, then the 666 was still the next point.
CC Miranda the artrat (or am i?) Oct 21, 2009, 9:39pm EDT
it's a percentage of a point. or it used to be before they changed the points structure. only tom gerace knows the true algorithm, but still i've rarely ever seen the points only go up one at a time. sometimes you can get none all day, other times lots of them. but one or two comments will not get you a whole point.
Elizabeth M Oct 22, 2009, 2:53pm EDT
Oh, well then...I guess, when I saw it go up to 666, it must have been some other comments together...either way...it's creepy..
CC Miranda the artrat (or am i?) Oct 22, 2009, 4:04pm EDT
i call that the gather points of the beast. in the law of averages, it's bound to come up every now and again.
Hella K. Oct 22, 2009, 6:24pm EDT
The interpretation of Sandi and John is incorrect....Armageddon has already taken place on the Cross, where Satan was slain, hence the last words of Jesus on the cross "It is Finished".
Revelation is pictorial, a picture of God's kingdom, the struggle between good and evil, which has been played out in the life, death and resurrection of Christ. It is the last book giving us insight that the Gospels didn't. That's it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will post 2. Thessalonians 2 in my comment at the end.
Hella K. Oct 22, 2009, 6:48pm EDT
Well, here is the main reference to Antichrist in the NT.......

"He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshipped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God".

And then it goes on to say...."the coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing".

And "The secret power of lawlessness is already at work.........but then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming".

So how does that fit with Obama or anyone else for that matter ?? How idiotic to pin down someone like Obama when the picture is painted of someone with extraordinary powers ?? And no time line is given !!!

I wouldn't give those Obama haters any time........but I do pray for Obama and his family's safety.
Elizabeth M Oct 23, 2009, 2:39am EDT
Sorry, but your interpretation is wrong...

Christ said "It is finished" to Heavenly Father as he died on the cross, meaning the mission he had been sent to earth for, by his Father, was now accomplished and completed...he had paid the ultimate price for the sins of all mankind. His innocent sacrifice completed God's plan for our salvation...and it was finished. It had nothing to do with anything else.

As far as obama...you ain't seen nuthin yet...you just wait...it gets worse from here on out...
Hella K. Oct 27, 2009, 6:50pm EDT
Exactly, you got it Elizabeth...the Plan of Salvation is finished, the evil one is conquered...Revelation makes that perfectly clear...that's why the correct exposition of Armageddon, as having been fought and won on the cross, is the one correctly accepted. It is prevalent in Christian Cults to believe otherwise, to wait for Armageddon. If you are a true beliver in the death and resurrection of Christ you will not lose your salvation believing in Armageddon being fought in the future, but you rob yourself of the joy of Christ having accomplished all that he was sent to do...to overcome the evil one so we could overcome the evil one in him...how else to you think you have come to repentance and faith in Christ's work on earth ??
Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:37pm EDT
Yes, Hella, Christ has conquered satan through his own atoning blood...that doesn't mean that satan has given up by any means, he is still trying to take as many down with him as possible, he knows his time is short...there will be a major battle at the Valley of Armegeddon...being prepared for that battle, does not dimish in any way the joy that we feel in the interim...it simply means OUR job is not done....Christ WILL return as a LION, not a LAMB...he WILL reign supreme as King of Kings and Lord of Lords on the earth for a thousand yrs of peace...then satan will be loosed again, and will be bringing his dominions against us again, for a FINAL battle...this does not mean that the atonement has not been made...it does not mean that we don't know the outcome of this war...we know...satan is not stupid, he knows he won't win, his mission is not to win the war,s but to bring down mankind with him into hell...he is gathering those who will fight against Christ for the mission of doing JUST THAT!
Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:40pm EDT
These wars are not about overcoming Christ's atonement, it is paid it can't be undone...these wars are about mankind's salvation...we lose it when we choose to follow satan...and satan is taking advantasge of that knowledge. Look around...look how many people he has already convinced that there really is no Christ or heaven or hell or satan, or God...etc etc...

[This future world leader will be satan’s counterfeit Christ (Messiah.) This coming leader will be very, very popular in the eyes of the world. The world will love him. The world will see him as a great leader, a man of "peace," and a "messiah."]

Sure sounds like you are describing Obama....didn't he just receive the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing?
Hella K. Oct 22, 2009, 6:25pm EDT
That is ridiculous !!!!
Elizabeth M Oct 23, 2009, 2:40am EDT
The wise shall understand, but there will always be those who have no ears to hear, and no eyes to see the truth.

Elizabeth M Oct 25, 2009, 7:58pm EDT
gee Kay....are you.....???????? Confused?????????

Hella K. Oct 27, 2009, 6:57pm EDT
Elizabeth, not only are YOU confused, YOU are ignorant as well and proud of it !! Are you sure you are saved by GRACE and not by your shoestring ??
You sure don't sound like you walk in the footsteps of Jesus...you know, living a life of love ?? You portray yourself as self-righteous...just like the Pharisees of Jesus' time. You need to examine yourself to see if Christ is truly in YOU !!!
Hella K. Oct 27, 2009, 6:58pm EDT
I love your answer Kay !!!!!!
Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:44pm EDT
Jesus did not coddle his enemies Hella...he ran the money changers out of the temple with a whip...he taught common sense, to love when you should love, and to hate when you should hate, and to speak up when you should speak up, and to be silent when you should be silent...he WAS NOT A PACIFIST Hella!
Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:49pm EDT
The Pharisee were trying to TRIP him up at every turn Hella...they did not believe he was the chosen one sent to deliver the people...they despised him...they were comfortable with their own interpretations of the scriptures and were not looking for MORE truth...they thought they had all of it already.

Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:52pm EDT
He ALLOWED himself to be crucified becasue it was the final element of the Atonement...he had suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane...had bled from every pore for every imaginable sin...the only thing left was to suffer and die at the hands of his own people for no crime whatsoever.
Elizabeth M Oct 28, 2009, 12:04am EDT
Because of his suffering in the Garden, he knows what it is like to be at the breaking point, to ask God to please not let this happen to me...but also knowing that his Father has a purpose for everything, and he submitted to the Father's will...because of his suffering on the cross, when the Father withdrew His spirit from him at that last moment, he knows what it is like to be totally isolated from the Holy Spirit, without Heavenly Father there...at that point, he realized he had suffered the ultimate loss, the withdrawing of the spirit of the Father...and he cried out "Father, Father, Why have you forsaken me?" and then he said "It is finished" and he died.
He had to experience every single consequence we would experience in connection with every imaginable sin every to be committed...
The worse thing in the world, is to NOT be able to access the Father's love through His spirit...that is PURE HELL. It was the final sacrifice, because up until then, he could always feel the Father with him.
Now, he has earned the right to be our Lord and Savior, our Comforter, because he knows how we feel...he knows, and he can empathize with ANY pain, no matter what it may be, he has felt it already...
We love him because he first loved us!
Hella K. Oct 28, 2009, 9:44pm EDT
I concur with everything you have said accept that Christ was not a Pacifist...he was....he could have asked legion of angels to protect himself from the violence he suffered, he didn't. He didn't come to punish people, he came to seek and save the Lost. Blessed are the MERCYFUL, the MEEK, the PEACEMAKERS. LOVE your enemies !! Never did He teach hate !!! It is God who hates sin...He is the judge of ALL.

He turned the tables over because they made the house of prayer a den of robbers. He was not a violent man ever, but showed righteous anger, something we can never claim for ourselves !!

If Christ has not finished the battle of overcoming the evil one on the cross then he has left the promise in Gen. 3 unfulfilled. That finished work was the faith that saved Adam and Eve, Abraham and his seed. Jesus will return a 2nd time to judge the WORLD of unbelief. It is the final day for all mankind. There is not going to be ANYTHING ELSE before he returns. If believing otherwise you will have to reject a lot of Scripture pointing to the FINISHED WORK of Christ on the Cross. It is not half-finished !!!! Read Hebrews again.
Satan is let loose, on a string so to speak, until Christ returns, and NOBODY knows that time and day....not even Jesus knew when he was on earth. So how come you know ???
Elizabeth M Oct 29, 2009, 7:08am EDT
Hella...you said...[If Christ has not finished the battle of overcoming the evil one on the cross...]

But he HAS! I never said otherwise! When did I say it was half-finished???See below:

Elizabeth M Oct 27, 2009, 11:52pm EDT
He ALLOWED himself to be crucified becasue it was the final element of the Atonement...he had suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane...had bled from every pore for every imaginable sin...the only thing left was to suffer and die at the hands of his own people for no crime whatsoever.

His MISSION to atone for the sins of all mankind have been fulfilled. He is not coming back to battle satan because of some unfulfilled part of his mission.
He is coming back this second time, to rule over the whole world for 1000 yrs (the millineum of peace) as King of Kings...the only reason he has to battle satan first is because satan just will not shut up and sit down...he will not concede to the winner, he will not walk away peacefully, he is madder than heck and he wants revenge, and he knows that the best way to even TRY to "disturb" God, is to have God's own children turn against Him, fighting against Christ, the Son He sent to us...Our Savior...fighting against all that is good, fighting against our own salvation! That's what atheists do, they fight against their own salvation. They just don't think it is so, right now. (Hence, the anti-Christ will DENY the Father AND the Son)...

Before Christ's Second Coming, the world will plunge into chaos, and turmoil, there will be earthquakes, disease and famine...(hence, the mark in the hand)...this will be a time of great trials and tribulation...there will be many events that will confuse people, some saying "oh, here Christ is" or "oh THERE he is!"...but it won't be the truth, he will come when we LEAST expect it...(after a LOT of people will have been fooled into thinking he is already here and it wasn't such a big deal like everyone thought, or that he isn't coming after all)...but he will be here in due time, in ALL his glory and with angels and much triumph...and every knee shall bow and ever tongue confess that he is the Christ, for it will be obvious to all at that point.

Of course, Christ will not be the final Judge of mankind, God the Father, will be...but that is much later...AFTER the 1000 yrs of peace...

There will also be another battle in the interim, when satan is released yet AGAIN, at the END of that 1000 yrs of peace...after THAT battle, (Christ and his followers win that one too)...THEN we will all be brought before our Heavenly Father, one at a time, and He will judge each of us, then we will be sent to the place Christ has prepared for us to go...in one of many of Heavenly Father's mansions, to live for eternity....

For some, that will be a great place...for others, not so good...and for the worst of the worst, they will not have a place within His kingdom, they will be cast into outer darkness...outer darkness will be the final place for satan and his followers to dwell, forever.

You said...[not even Jesus knows when he is coming back, so how come you know?]

Did I ever say I knew the exact time he would return? No, never...no one knows, like you said, not even he knows yet. The Father is the only one who has that information and He isn't sharing it with anyone.

I think claiming Obama is the anti-christ is a bit much.
Elizabeth M Oct 19, 2009, 5:24pm EDT
Well, maybe it's jsut coincidence.
Jennifer R. Oct 20, 2009, 4:57pm EDT
I think when the true anti-christ comes down or up to earth it won't be as simple as just stating our President is because we don't care for his politics. You can have a gift for oratorical speaking and not be evil. People need to be real.
Jennifer R. Oct 20, 2009, 5:15pm EDT
Also the true antichrist will be one who denies the existence of the Father and his Son....when has Barack Obama ever done that???? My reference is 1John 2:22. I mean again just because some has a gift for gab so to speak doesn't mean they are evil. I think Obama has been such an influence on the American people and others around the world because he symbolizes a change that we in this country have needed for some time. Acceptance of adversity and acceptance of new ideas has been nearly absent from our government for quite some time.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 11:13pm EDT
satan isn't as blatant as you would think...he is subtle...he comes as a wolf in sheep's clothing...so the anti-christ, I would suspect, would come as a messiah "to save the world" with hope and change.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 11:14pm EDT
if he was obvious, not as many people would be fooled and would follow him.
Elizabeth M Oct 23, 2009, 2:42am EDT
Well, let's see.....what do Muslims believe about God and Christ?

Exactly!
Elizabeth M Oct 29, 2009, 7:11am EDT
Jennifer....how do you know what Obama says in his heart? He seems to be partial to his Muslim upbringing, although at the same time, he SAYS he is Christian, but then he could be trying to fool EVERYONE, Muslims included...until the end, when it is SAFE for him to reveal that he denies both the Father and the Son...???? Maybe....!

Okay if you have REALLY read your Bible, I mean REALLY REALLY read it you would realize that the "anti-christ" is not a specific person but rather all who deceive others under the guise of being "Holy".
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 3:42pm EDT
Sorry, you are wrong.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 3:43pm EDT
You haven't read it evidently. Those are called FALSE PROPHETS...you know, those people who are supposedly HOLY, who tell you what you WANT to hear?

Jennifer R. Oct 20, 2009, 5:00pm EDT
I have to agree with Kristi...

The capital B bible was pretty much put together in much the same fashion as The Penguin Omnibus of Science Fiction. Over time a bunch of guys picked their favorite stories and the volume was printed up. Unlike The Penguin Omnibus of Science Fiction though the capital B bible keeps going through rewrites and different versions to suit the tastes of its readers.

I believe we can count on The Penguin Omnibus of Science Fiction to remain steadfast in its convictions.

The actual lineage of Barack Obama's name, however, extending back to a revered biblical namesake, befits his status as a Christian of rich ancestral influences. Obama's first name, Barack, means "blessed" in the African languages of Luo and Swahili, both spoken widely in his deceased father's birthplace of Kenya. The African "Barack" originates from the Arabic word "baracka." Barack and "baracka" mean the same as the Hebrew word "baruch," as Obama himself noted in his 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father," and at recent campaign appearances.

Famous historical figures with derivations of that name are philosopher Baruch Spinoza, philanthropist Bernard Baruch and Pope Benedict XVI -- "Benedict" is the Latinized form of Baruch.
Despite their similar sounds, Barack has a different linguistic root than Barak, the last name of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, which means "lightning" in Hebrew.
Obama's middle name, Hussein, derives from the Arabic word Hassan, which means something inherently good. Some linguists believe that the Irish name Ó hOsáin or Hassan is derived from the same word. Historical figures with names deriving from that root include Prince Hassan and the late King Hussein of Jordan and King Hassan II of Morocco. The name of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, an ally of both the United States and of Israel, has precisely the same roots, in reverse, as Barack Hussein.
Barack Obama shares with past American presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, Zachary Taylor, and Benjamin Harrison, the distinction of a notable biblical namesake
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 4:46pm EDT
If the latter influences prevail, and if Obama's linguistic lineage continues to feed his charismatic appeal, his detractors may find themselves wishing they could just call him Barry
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 4:51pm EDT
The day after a senator from Illinois, is elected president, the Pick 3 lottery in Illinois comes up 666. It's happened before, notably in Pennsylvania (12 times, including one time as part of a scam and once earlier this year, in Maryland.

The blacker the berry the sweeter the wine.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 10:19pm EDT
Lori...It wasn't just the 666 that came up, it was the 7779 right after it on Pick 4 that clinched the deal...meaning God's complete Judgement...i think that's the part they were talking about, that all of it together, was near impossible odds to come up with.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 10:43pm EDT
EM JAY, we really don't need to hear how you would like to screw Obama.
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 10:50pm EDT
ok elizabeth I did a little research and as far as the 7779 being a prophecy along with the 666 this is what I came up with.

7779-people are disagreeing with the significance of it.

one says:

777 meaning completion(7 days of creation) and 9 is God’s judgement.

and this

The ‘777′ bit is also obvious. Sevens appear throughout scripture in reference to completeness (though not always in a good way). Threes are usually associated with the divine. Three sevens basically means that God is completing — or about to complete — something.

But the nine kinda just hung there.

and this

In the Bible 7 equals completion. 777 in the Bible equals (Father, son, holy spirit) trinity of completion. THE NUMBER 9 in the Bible is the number of JUDGMENT. Thus the coming of the anticrist, followed by the completion of the age, and then judgment.

This is my thoughts...in order to be so starting and so earth shattering then it needs to be so obvious that you would look at it and get the significance right away.

No one can quite make up the generally accepted significance.

think about this one for a bit. if there is such a thing as "the anti-christ", and he/she/it is actually here, and you won't know it because only god knows these things, does it really matter?
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 5:20pm EDT
CC bring a good point. You probably wouldnt be able to recognize the antichrist if you saw him...I doubt very much that he would run for president of the US but he would be the one pulling the strings behind.

And does it matter? If it is predesigned then no it wouldnt make the least bit of difference.
CC Miranda the artrat (or am i?) Oct 20, 2009, 5:30pm EDT
well that's just it Lori. their bible says it will happen (making it pre-destined according to their beliefs) so no amount of finger pointing or fearing will change that destiny. then there is the "crying wolf" factor that by falsely crying "anti-christ" you will inadvertently make the way easier for it to come to pass and in effect help bring about the very thing they fear.
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 6:02pm EDT
exactly unpronouncable symbol

IF the antichrist myth is true the real antichrist would be the last person you would suspect of being the antichrist.
Elizabeth M Oct 20, 2009, 10:48pm EDT
And a lot of people think he is the Messiah, and worship him as the savior of the world....wouldn't that mean a WHOLE lot of people are being fooled, if he is the Anti-Christ?
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 10:52pm EDT
Elizabeth it could mean that but for the most part it is the christians that arent believing him and as I understand it...it is specifically the christians that the devil is bringing the antichrist for and wants to fool into thinking he is a prophet
CC Miranda the artrat (or am i?) Oct 20, 2009, 10:56pm EDT
no, that would mean a lot of people are just tired of the good old boy regime that was in place for so long. i've never met anyone who has made that claim except for those who speak against him who keep claiming that a whole lot of people believe that they mean it in a religious sort of way.
Lori F. Oct 20, 2009, 11:10pm EDT
That too CC.

One of the major problems I have with Obama being the antichrist is.

I voted for Obama I support Obama no I dont worship him but I do think he is the best man for the job.

I dont believe in god.

So there is no way that Obama is going to turn someone like me off god cause I was never on god...thats not dirty minded like it sounded.

Now I see most of the christians on gather and IRL dont support Obama so if he tried to get them away from god it would never happen.

So if Obama is the antichrist he sucks at it or he is just a man elected to do a job...take your pick.
Elizabeth M Oct 21, 2009, 9:35pm EDT
The anit-christ is not coming because of christians, he is coming to lead his followers to fight against Christ and HIS followers at the battle of Armegeddon...satan wants to rule this world forever...he can't...he is ruling it now, but he is running out of time...he needs an army to fight Christ when he returns to the earth...satan already has a lot of followers now, (you are one of them for being an atheist)...when the anti-christ comes, satan will give him power...he will lead satan's followers in the battle that will usher in the millineum of peace (Chrsit and his followers will win this battle, hence peace will prevail) and the reason we will have 1000 yrs of peace is because satan and all his followers, when they lose the battle, will be banished from the earth for 1000 yrs...till the final judgment...then they will be loosed to face Heavenly Father.
Elizabeth M Oct 21, 2009, 9:38pm EDT

CC Miranda the artrat (or am i?) Oct 21, 2009, 9:45pm EDT
well jews don't believe in christ either, but christ was a jew. how's that for an conundrum.
Hella K. Oct 22, 2009, 6:37pm EDT
Elizabeth is off her rocker, trust me !! She believes the book of Daniel and Revelation to be taken literally....no self-respecting biblical Scholar interprets those two books like that. Armegaddon was fought on the Cross. The scholarly exposition off the Scriptures make that very clear. But 'christian cults' love to revel in revelation, gives them the upper hand they believe.
Hella K. Oct 22, 2009, 6:53pm EDT
And again for good measure....maybe Elizabeth will get it this time round !!

Elizabeth M Oct 23, 2009, 2:55am EDT
Misty....Muslims do not believe that Christ was God's literal Only Begotten Son.

Hella: [no self-respecting biblical Scholar interprets those two books like that.]

As soon as they gain a little knowledge (as they suppose they have), they immediately begin to think they are above all others in their educated pinheadedness...ohhhhh, that we should think so highly of these "scholars" that we neglect what God has given us in His word....sounds like the "pharasee disease" to me...those who thought they knew more than Christ...the ones he REBUKED!

Remember, it was the widow's mite that was worth more than the richest man's contribution....do not think someone "dumb" simply because they do not have a theology degree by the "world's standards"....that's not how God works dear...

Elizabeth M Oct 23, 2009, 2:59am EDT
Misty and CC...Some Jews do not believe that Christ has come yet...they are still waiting for his first appearance...they ALL believe that Christ IS THE SAVIOR!! Muslims do not...they believe he was no more than another man.
Vivian P. Oct 25, 2009, 7:14pm EDT
Muslims believe in Christ !
you have no idea about what you are talking about
Elizabeth M Oct 25, 2009, 7:18pm EDT
Vivian...do you need glasses? MUSLIMS DO NOT BELIEVE THAT CHRIST IS THE LITERAL ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, THEY DO NOT BELIEVE HE IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN CHRIST'S ATONEMENT...they believe he was simply another man or prophet, that is all.
Elizabeth M Oct 25, 2009, 7:20pm EDT
If they believed he is the Savior, then that would make them Christians...HELLLOOOOO????
Hella K. Oct 27, 2009, 7:22pm EDT
Elizabeth...why be on the defensive ?? God has given us brains to use, and there are fine Christian Scholars who God uses to expound his word more accurately...do you speak Hebrew ?? Aramaic ?? NT Greek ?? The Holy Spirit is as active in Christian Scholars as in untrained Christians. I would gladly learn from either, but you are too proud to accept your inability to LISTEN to anyone but yourself.
Elizabeth M Oct 29, 2009, 11:40pm EDT
I was on the defensive Hella, because for one, YOU keep saying I don't know what I am talking about...and in the same breath, say I am too proud to listen...then what does that make you? We are at a stalemate dear...we have to agree to disagree at this point...I am not stupid, I know what I know, you are not stupid, you know what you know, and we are ALL learning new stuff everytime we receive new knowledge from Heavenly Father...

Two, I was upset with Vivian because she cannot seem to understand that Muslims are NOT Christians! lol

Christ died, but then he was resurrected (his physical body and spirit body were reunited forever)...and that is how he is coming back in the FLESH this second time...mankind (the anti-christ will be one of them) will not be resurrected until the last day of judgment...

The scriptures describe a time when the anti-christ will appear in the last days and wreak havoc on the world...how could this have already happened and the guy be dead by now? I don't believe so, because the other events don't fit then. Sorry I can't agree with your statement.

Roy ☯ Hilbinger Oct 20, 2009, 10:43pm EDT
Well guess what, Elizabeth? I do know a lot about ancient Hebrew (I do translations, in fact, if you've ever read any of my articles on the subject here on Gather), and whoever made the remark that Aramaic is the most ancient form of Hebrew is a clueless nitwit who never studied the subject. Hebrew and Aramaic are different languages within the Northern Semitic family of languages. They're related the same way Arabic and Hebrew are related, but neither one is a form of the other. Any first year Hebrew student knows that.
Aniko   Oct 20, 2009, 11:14pm EDT
I can see Roy took care of that. :-)

But since you addressed me: unlike Roy, I do not speak Hebrew or Aramaic or any Semitic language. I do, however, know what the Semitic language family "looks like": how the languages are related to each other.

I do know more about Indo-European languages. I've done a bit of historical linguistics, both for English and for Romance languages.

English and Dutch are closely related languages, both in the West Germanic branch of the Germanic family.

I thought that was a good analogy for Hebrew and Aramaic. One is not the ancestor of the other, but, as Roy says, they are two different languages in the same branch of the Semitic family (which is part of the larger Afro-Asiatic language family much like Germanic is part of the Indo-European language family).

Any further questions? (If you have any about Ancient Greek, Roy speaks that, too.)
