Make homemade costumes!!!! There are all kids of cute ideas on how to in books and magazines available at the libraries and people post ideas on here too!

Hit the thift stores they usually have a whole rack of Halloween clothes at this time of year, and also try ebay. You could also put them in brown turtlenecks and brown sweatpants and make reindeer antlers out of wire hangers and felt. Or black sweat pants and black turtle neck and cut yellow stripes in to felt, and hot glue it or pin it on. Or do a denim shirt and jeans and a cowboy hat and they could be cow boys.

freecycle.org in your area. you can ask for a specific size... people will write back if they have it to give to you. it will always be free.

simple one. where all the same color. make a tag on the front with the same color and black marker. like a crayola crayon. also can make a hat out of felt to look like the top of a crayon.

I hit up the thrift stores and score big every year... but I do it to update my daughter's dress up trunk.
you can always make some costumes; add decorations to sweatoutfits for instance. that way they are still comfortable and warm.

freecycle.org.. i've been seeing a lot of costume's given away for free.. you can ask for it specifically... also old navy has them for 2.00 hh

You know my boys don't like wearing costumes either.
I have tried for years to get them to wear one and they don't want to.
My 9 year old wanted a costume last year but we didn't have money to buy one. But he had money to buy his own- So we took him shopping and he finally decided that he didn't want to spen ALL his money on a costume so he bought facae paint for $5 and then we took him to game stop to buy his game for his nintendo ds and his costume was a zombie. We got some of his old clothes and ripped them and painted his face like a zombie. SO he spent $5 on his costume..

This year he did the same thing. But he wanted to be a ninja and again we have no money to buy anything so he has his birthday money saved up and he bought ninja swords and face paint and his going to be a zombie ninja boy. lol

When my kids were little, I bought pajamas for their costumes. Adam got a Superman complete with cape and Spiderman. He loved them.

Buy your costumes during the summer. Next time you are at a garage sale or thrift store during the summer and you see a kids dress up item tucked away somewhere, get it! You really have to train yourself to look for things out of season (it's even harder to make yourself do this at garage sales) but it's THE best deal you can get. You could make the costume, but that is more time consuming. So, make note of it now... next summer, be on the look out!
