The Verizon Droid does, iDon't commercial that has been airing during the MLB playoffs and NFL football games this weekend is basically an iPhone sucks advertisement. No visual of the second edition of the Droid and not even a projected date for when it's coming. Basically it's a heads-up to Apple from Verizon..."hey, this is what we got and we are giving you time to make improvements to the iPhone before the Android 2 comes out."
Now it's up to Apple to make improvements to the iPhone to avoid losing significant market share when the Droid eventually arrives. This will also hopefully be a smack in the face to the iPhone's exclusive network provider, AT&T, to stop dragging their feet with network enhancements and improve coverage, speed, and other features including tethering sooner rather than later.
Being an iPhone user, which means I'm stuck with AT&T, it seems like AT&T uses their exclusivity iPhone contract to get by with the bare minimum. They know we can't leave if we want the iPhone so they take their time with improvements such as MMS capability which just came out in the past two months.
The Droid does, iDon't commercial boasts the following features which iPhone lacks: speech recognition; multi-tasking; 5 megapixel camera; better speed; the ability to run widgets; and a few others. So get going Apple and AT&T...I love the iPhone but my contract is up in the Spring. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will drop the iPhone and switch to the Droid if improvements aren't made.
All the features of the Droid can be seen at the Verizon website where you can sign up for e-mail notifications with any Droid updates.
