I see so much of the beauty
of Puget Sound on my daily travels
but this spot just stops me every time.
At high tide, the barn seems to float on the water. Resting serenely just past the Home Bridge, you can see it from the main road but if you take Herron Rd. you will have your best view. It is in fall color now and this photo was taken at mid-tide.
At the end of the Von Geldern Cove is Home, Washington a quiet little spot on the Key Peninsula Hwy. They have a post office, a feed store, The Home Port Restaurant ( excellent chowder) and there is even a service station.
Of note, at the turn of the century, Home was considered a colony of anarchists though I see few of them now. They are mostly rural folk that love their privacy and the slower pace of farm life.
I have a few patients out on the Key Peninsula and it takes me a full hour to get to them but the drive is peaceful and always filled with the beauty of Washington's Puget Sound.

Thanks for posting this to my new group Barns ~ Outbuildings ~ Sheds
This reminds me that my husband visited Malcolm Island, BC (at the far end of Vancouver Island) this summer on his motorcycle trip with a friend. It was founded by Finns and was to be a utopia. Unfortunately the utopia didn't last long, but the Finns are still around.
