I've had a life-long goal to write a book and in the last couple of years I've gotten more serious about it... went to a few writer's workshops, joined a writer's group, and had a couple of articles published in Colorado Runner. The goal has been to have a book published before I turned 50 which is coming up in about 4 months!
Well, thanks to lulu.com, I was able to print out my first proof copy of The Laptop Dancer Diaries, spending a grand total of $10! (And that includes the $4 for shipping.) And it looks like a REAL BOOK! Just like the type you'd buy from a book store!
I haven't yet gotten an editor because I'm still unemployed which means I'm living very cheaply. However, I really want the book to be professional. I don't expect to get fame and fortune from the book, but I'd like to be proud of it. I just ordered 5 more proof copies to hand out to friends for critiques.
Since I always struggle with what to write here on gather, I think I will post each day a section from the book. I am looking for honest, constructive feedback.
At the end of the day, I'll take a look at the feedback, as well as click through to each of the people who have commented to take a look at their recent posts. If you have a particular piece that you'd like me to critique or leave a comment on let me know.
Thanks for your help!
