Weekend Giggles: Why dogs hate Halloween

Everyone knows that little girls dress up the poor family cat - over and over and over again. Until recently, dogs seemed to have gained immunity from the costume syndrome.

No longer:

Here are just four sites with loads of fun pictures of dogs getting ready for Halloween, which is kind of sad because chocolate is bad for dogs. Maybe some houses will have Milk Bone and other doggie treats.

NOTE: I have not vetted all these so, before you bring the youngsters in on this, you might want to check the site pictures out and apply your own standards.

These are hilarious! I've never had success in dressing up cats. Dogs are more willing to please people. Cats, not so much.

I second Elizabeth's comment! (:o) NEVER, again I say NTVTR try these costumes on a cat! The poor doges do NOT seem like they're haveing any fun. Shouldn't the ASPCA be called? Please leve PETA out of this matter. They would blow it up all out of proportion. I can see the headlines: " PETA protests animal cruelty by parading on Halloween Trick-or-Treat Night in scanty people costumes!" More at 11 ( TV news). I wonder what scanty people costumes would look like? No, I don't want to go there. (:OD

I don't ever dress a dog in costume, but occasionally a dog will dress himself by playing with a bow or hat or slippers.

I have to admit, I did try and dress my dog up for Halloween... unfortunately (but luckily for them), I can't find costumes that fit them without ordering them from the internet (I have two 70 lb retrievers).

I'm sure they are very happy about it. I did find a Santa hat and beard last year for one of the dogs, and he definitely wasn't pleased with it.

Awwww man. I hate seeing these. I always feel so sorry for the little doggies. My great grandson loves these doggie and kitty sites. He laughs (he's 4) and I groan. Poor doggies. Dogs who allow their owners to do this to them really love their humans. LOL

I found them very amusing. If I had a dog, I'd probably do something like that to it, but it would be a noble costume, not a mockery. I have a difficult time imaging how the dog frog costume allows for mobility.

Hey, dressing up dogs is nuthin' -- My mother used to put Santa hats on all her African fertility statues. VERY strange.

well the pics of everything else was super cute and did make me laugh (thanks btw) but i find something wrong with people putting a thong on a dog and take a pic of the dog from behind....that was what i found disturbing. i'm sure it's all in good fun but it just gave me the ickies

Why are there no pit bulls wearing frilly stuff? Would you dare put a tu tu on a German Shepard? Do guys do this? or is it a girl thing? Would my Labrador stand still while I hang a toilet seat around his neck? Could a dog actually be humiliated or is that just a human thing?
