A mother and a father won a "free night" pass to a casino hotel-- and their 9yr old girl wanted to see Miley Cyrus in concert. The family decided to combine the two events into one night-- but the mother said she only had enough money for one ticket to the concert.
So, on the night of the concert, after the ticket was purchased for the 9yr old girl, and reservations made at the casino hotel, the family drove to Omaha from Lincoln where they lived, hoping to spend a fun night.
Mom and dad dropped the girl off at the concert, and the rest of the family went to the casino hotel and checked in.
Mom dropped the child off with an usher, who assured the mother they would help the child to her seat, and watch her during the concert. Once at her seat, the child found an adult with a cellphone and called her Mom to say she was fine.
However, some adults took notice of the child, alone, and decided to report it to a couple of off duty police officers. These officers took the child into custody, and the search for her parents began.
The parents have now been charged with child neglect.
Would you let a 9yr old girl go to a concert alone?
Were the police doing the right thing to charge the parents with child neglect?
