Genre Shorties: Editorial: Indian Summer?

Where the heck is that Indian Summer we usually experience in central Ohio in late October every year? It never failed, when I was warmly ensconced in my apartment, with the furnace blowing, I would find several days in the Autumn when the thermometer read 80 F or better. Off with the heat and on with the AC.

Now, here I am existing in a tent in a campground, and the weatherman says “Flurries Tonight“ with no chance of the mercury rising above 60 for the next week.

At least I have the hot flashes to keep us warm.

Sounds delightful. A tent? You never have told me what's going on. I'm concerned about you. Why aren't you staying in a house?!? I know you have Dixie with you (in your head) but it gets really cold in a tent at night! Do you have an electric hookup? Would you like an electric blanket? Is hubby with you?

I hear ya! This weather is ticking me off. Seems like we went straight from summer to winter.

ha ha...you could wring enough water from your nightgown to wash with,likely... today it finally went down to 50 degrees here, but it's a nice change from the sweltering heat.

Actually we just went out and purchased a cool little ceramic heater for the tent, as our old one died last night and it was pretty darn cold . Luckily, we stayed nice and toasty under the covers...we have a queen sized pillow top air mattress, with a mylar insulation layer under us, and several thermal blankets on top..as long as you can stand to sleep with your head under the blankets, its toasty...unfortunately, I DETEST having my head under the blankets.
