Taking a look at the federal government's web site for tracking dollars spent as part of President Obama's $787 billion stimulus act, one finds that about $16 billion has been spent on federal contracts thus far.
So, what did we, the taxpayers who are footing this bill, get for that $16 billion? According to the web site, there have been 30,383 jobs saved or created by federal contract recipients. Do the math.
That works out to $526,610 PER JOB saved or created. Am I the only one who feels like we're getting robbed here? Does anyone seriously believe that this is a worthwhile investment?

I'm pulling for the moderate route as usual. 75% rate for Federal income tax, not the 94% rate that could be justified this time around.
I'll take my porridge, not too hot, not too cold, but just right.
pretty obvious why, by those numbers.....
they always know how to "blow" tons of cash.....
unfortunately.....
they seem to not care how much of the tax money they spend.....
I guess it's probably because it's not theirs....
C'mon now. You ought not criticize these people because they 'care' so much.
I went to the site and left comments that they should:
1) report Dollars/job statistics throughout, and
2) Prominently display their definition for what a 'saved' job is.
I expect to see a dark-windowed SUV in my driveway long before either suggestion is implemented.
we most definitely should fear those who worship Mao.....
No, it's just one more in a string of broken promises. No more deficit spending, yet his budget proposal has deficits for the next ten years. No more earmarks, yet the first bill he signed had more than 9,000 of them. Okay, really this time, no more earmarks. Then the defense bill had nearly $3 billion worth of pet projects. No lobbyists in his administration, immediately followed by waivers for the lobbyists he wanted in his administration. An end to rendition, yet renditions continue. The most transparent government in history, yet his lawyers have gone to court multiple times since January to claim "state secrets." No more warrantless wiretapping, yet the practice continues. He won't sign a healthcare reform bill that adds one dime to the deficit or budget, yet all proposals on the table right now do both. Talks with Iran without preconditions, yet he left in place the Bush demand that Iran cease uranium enrichment before bilateral talks with the United States.
One thing that has become abundantly clear in the last 9 months is that this president's word cannot be taken seriously.
