I sit here tonight, waiting for your call,

Working over I hear you say, How long?

All night you tell me, my heart sinks,

I sit here without, missing you tonight.

 

Thirteen years together, very few nights apart,

Out of town trips, the only nights without,

Yet work has sprung upon us, money needed.

I sit here without, missing you tonight.

 

Putting family and our future above all,

Up so early this morning, working so long,

An empty bed awaits me, I dread to go,

I sit here without, missing you tonight.

 

The feeling of you beside me, I need,

The smell of your body, I miss,

Till morning comes, and you return,

I sit here without, missing you tonight.
