I had to replace my car battery yesterday

I'm in South Florida so it's a pretty hot climate too. Our batteries generally last about 2 years. The heat really does a number on them.

Forgot, batteries usually last 5 to 6 years here in PA!

Wow, that seems like an awfully short battery life! I think in all the years I had cars, I only replaced two. And it gets extremely cold in the winter and hot in the summer. My cars were used so I don't actually know how long the batteries lasted before I got the cars.

I have a cheap little battery tester from Walmart. I rinsed it off with faucet water one time and it said the water was charged up a little, lol!

Well when I no longer could drive I gave my little truck to one of my sons.
Battery still in there and that has been......some time!!
With water checked and added when needed, corrosion cleaned off. The connection wires cleaned, it has lasted.
My man uses this truck as back up when his truck decides it is to cold outside to run lol!
I to am glad to hear you have everything fixed, or soon to be fixed!

I have no idea what the battery life of my car is. While it's not hot all the time here(in Virginia) we get both ends of the spectrum, 100 degrees in the summer and just below freezing in the winter. I'm hard on my cars and end up replacing them every 3.5 years or so.

It was good that you planned ahead so it wouldn't leave you stranded.

Glad to hear you got the battery replaced! Nope, sure wouldn't want to get stranded somewhere, especially if hubby's gone! Here, I think that our batteries last somewhere around 5 to 6 years, as we have such mild winters.......wow, 22 months.....that sure isn't very long, is it?

We had to replace our battery about a month ago too! Central Florida gets pretty hot too! Our batteries generally last a little less than 2 years.

You know we actually just replaced our battery yesterday too, in our van.
It seems like it has been needing to be replaced for awhile, because it never took much to drain it. But the past week or so it has been cold, and it has been having trouble starting up. I had trouble getting it to start yesterday morning, when I was headed to take my son for his well baby visit. Then we went to teh grocery store after that, and I had trouble starting it when I left the store. Luckilly it did start, that would have been aweful to be walking more than a mile home, in the cold, with 2 kids in tow...
So last night we were going to go look at Halloween costumes, for a costume party we are going to this year, but instead since the van was giving us trouble again we ended up going and spending $70 on a new battery and that was the cheapest place we could find. Other places wanted $80 or more before tax. Good thing I had a WalMart gc from MyPoints because we would have had to wait till Davids next paycheck to replace it.

Anyway, I am not sure how long a battery is supposed to last around here, but my last car I had for about 6yrs. The battery wasn't new when I bought the car, and I only replaced the battery once in it. Which was about 3yrs after I bought the car. During that time I also lived in SW FL for three years and it was about 6m or so after I moved there that I had to replace the battery.

I've had my battery for my F-150 for almost 5 years with no problems, and it gets pretty hot here....

Last year I had to replace the original battery to my vehicle and it was 5 years old.

FL here as well. 2 yrs is average. I replaced my battery twice last year......my husband just replaced his a couple months ago.

Usually 3 or 4 years. Hubby takes care of that. Had to get one replaced recently that was still under warranty. Glad I keep all of my paperwork.

We've never had car battery trouble so they must last a long time. Glad you didn't get stranded some place. My car is in the shop since Tuesday...it better be done tonight because I have lots of running to do!

Three years is average for a battery in extreme hot or cold climates. Even if the warranty is longer, after three years, you are paying almost full price. I have been in the auto repair business for more than 25 years.

Same as you dear. And, the tires get dry rot out here too. You are lucky to gt 4 years from them.

Sorry to hear about your battery. We've having tire trouble. My husband said that he needs to replace one of the tires as it has a slow leak. When he returns from MN, he will bring it in. We've had little repair on this car and it is from 2001. It has over 200,000 miles on it.

I had one die right after the warranty expired. I had one that lasted 5 years, until that car got totaled.
