Leona Lewis, the 24-year-old powerhouse singer who rose to stardom from obscurity thanks to the power of television and Simon Cowell, was punched at a book signing for her autobiography, Dreams.
She had been signing autographs for about 90 minutes when a man approached her and punched her in the side of the head.
Random act of violence? A deranged fan? Motive has yet to be determined.
Leona left the signing in tears and, while not needing medical attention, cancelled a scheduled television appearance that evening. The assailant is being held for interrogation. An investigation is pending.
Leona is busy promoting her book and her upcoming CD, Echo. Her latest single "Happy" is climbing the charts. She'll bounce back in no time. Trust me.
