Hello Rachel and Ed, I am writing to both of you because you have a larger, more respected soapbox than I do as an average citizen.
I am very worried about all this talk that this Nations Health Care is being placed in the hands of a few, including one Republican Senator.
What I would like to propose is really quite simple and might resolve this whole debate about what is included or excluded from the current Health Care Bills before Congress.
Could the President or perhaps Congress merely rewrite the eligibility requirements for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program ?
Make it read: "As a US citizen, you are eligible to elect FEHB coverage", rather than "As a Federal employee, you are eligible to elect FEHB coverage".
Simply allow any US citizen the ability to purchase this plan rather than attempting to make an entire new system for citizens.
I am a proactive citizen and, I have written my representatives as well as the President.
Unfortunately, I have never received a response from any of them.
I feel as a US citizen, my voice is silent to their ears, my emails and letters simply getting thrown out or cast to the side.
Both of you have stood up and given me and others like me a voice, thank you !
Seeing as you are in a beneficial position to ask hard questions to those in power, I would like to request you put forward my simple solution.
Thank you in advance,
Richard Owl Mirror
