I've been on this kick lately where I've been going through all my piles of magazines. I get a TON of them for free and honestly I get so many that I never have time to read them all. (Now that I think about that, I should probably update my list of free magazines here, huh?)
Anyway, I have lots of different magazines like Cosmo, Women's Day, Family Circle, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Diet & Nutrition... really the list goes on and on. Those are only the magazines that are inside, I have a ton of outdated subscriptions from a few years ago in boxes in my garage. Needless to say, my husband always asks me what the heck I'm gonna do with all of them.
I always had it in my head that maybe someone would want to buy them from me (LOL) or that I could pass them on to someone else, but after asking asking numerous people if they wanted them without any bites, I gave up asking. They just kept piling up.
SO for the past couple weeks I've been slowly pulling out a few magazines each day, and while sitting on my couch I've been reading through them. Each time I'm done with a magazine it goes into our recycling box. I wish there was something more I could do with them but for the life of me I can't figure that out.
Now I have a big pile of pages that I've ripped out of those mags so I'm at the point of sorting through them.
First of all, I don't think I realized just how many coupons were in magazines! I now have a huge pile of those, carefully cut out. Hopefully I'll actually use them myself or I can find someone who could use them more than me.
Second -- holy cow, there are a ton of contests you can enter just by reading through magazines! I'll have you know that I have entered more than 100 contests within the past few days, ones I wouldn't have found if it weren't for my magazine depleting adventure. Maybe I'll get lucky.
One pile consists of things I found inspiring in some way: Could be something I'd like to do to my yard or house later on when we have money or maybe something I think my mom & I can craft to sell on Etsy.com. In fact, my mom came over to my house just yesterday and I showed her my inspiration pile - we were both in a great, crafty mood so our brains were spilling out with ideas. I have gotten as far as putting the magazine clippings in a 'Crafts to Do' folder and we'll brainstorm some more later on to figure out what we need to gather up to complete those crafts. I can't wait until we've made some things to sell! It will be neat to find out what products we make people are actually interested in buying and it will be cleansing to get these ideas out of our heads!
The last mound is 'stuff to do on the internet' - The contests I found have already been entered so now I'm on to sharing things with you guys that I've found in magazines. This morning I told you about a bit of health news I found and I hope throughout the next few days I'll be able to share even more with you.
So... that's my magazine depleting story and I'm stickin' to it!

I save them for a bit....may need to cut out pics or something for an art project...but they aren't around for long.
Mostly, if they have coupons in them I cut those out and throw away the magazine
At one point and time subliminal messages were legal. This kind of advertisement is really cool!! Well to some I guess.
National geographic has records in the older issues. These records actually play on record players.... then the maps are marketable..... many things can be done with older magazines.
Loving your posts on the 60's articles :0) Ya so I am a little late with this post lol :0)
