It's time for a CHANGE!

I've been looking at completely new hair styles for a while now, something new that I've never tried before. I want a change! My color also needs to be done. Hair dyes are fading fast on my hair lately, lightening up considerably over the course of just a few weeks.

Yesterday, I bought a dark reddish brown- darker than I normally go, but I'm hoping it'll last longer. I love deep, rich, warm colors for my hair. I've been playing around with Hairstyler.com, which allows you to look at hairstyles on a model head. They have several models to choose from to judge overall face shape, and coloring, too. They also allow you to change the hair color.

Here are my favorites, though I don't think I'll have the guts to go really short. I like the last one the best. While it's similar to the one above it, no way I'd part my hair that way, so I'd rather get it cut with a straight part in mind. What do you think? My hair is currently just about at my shoulder blades.

I like that one a lot as well, but I haven't gone that short since I was in 6th grade. I'm not sure if I can pull off the short hair or not.

I like the second one but you could get a similar effect without going as short just by putting your hair up.
That part on the second to last one can only be pulled off by few people. I know I would look awful with it so I don't like it :)
The last one is cute too.

I need to get my daughter's hair cut (she's 4) because she really messed it up with scissors (again!). I'm trying to figure out what would look good on her.

Oh, we've been there. A few days before Christmas, when Gilly was only 4, she came out of the bathroom to show me that she could see her ears. It took me a moment to realize that she had cut her hair short, straight back over top of the ear on both sides. So far back, we had to get her a "boy" cut- super short all over, and it looked horrible. But, it went so far back, we couldn't even give her a mullet. It was just awful. I made her wear frilly head bands for months, just so people knew she was a girl.

I like the second (if you are that gutsy) and the last one. Last year I cut over 10" off my hair - MAJOR CHANGE. But I love it.. I cut it in that super short in back and longer in the front. I am now growing it to a all one length bob.

The first one would be easier to maintain than #2, but I like #2 ~ go for dark red, I'm partial to that...as you can see.

I think they will all be time consuming to manage if you don't already have stick straight hair or a really good straightener.

You need to use shampoos recommended for color treated hair to maintain the color, and red is harder to keep than any of them. I have gone salt and pepper for the simplicity.

I think our hard water makes it worse. I have been dying my hair since I was 16, and hair dye has always stuck to the point of it needing to be redyed over just to change colors. I'm talking 3-6 months. Since moving here, I've gone from dying my hair every 4 or 5 months, to dying it every 6 weeks now.

I like number one and number two. I would not have the time or patience for any of them though. I had something similar to number one, and I did not remember how time consuming it was until my brother's girlfriend came to stay with us. She has short hair, and it sure takes a lot of time especially with our humidity level.

I like the last one...but that's because that's the shortest I would ever go on myself, I actually did something pretty similar once. I like it that length or longer, just because I'm lazy and don't want to take a long time working on it.
