New Autumn Color at Skidway Lake - Photo Essay

Winter seems to be breathing down the neck of Autumn in Michigan.  Unseasonably cold temperatures are speeding up the annual color change.  I think we'll see peak color by next weekend.

The evergreens and a few slow, more stubborn trees provide a green contrast to the autumn hues.

The east side of the lake has a whole range of autumn colors.

This oak tree is turning quickly and our burning bush has burst into flame.

The new room on our house is completely buttoned up on the outside.  Now we can begin the inside - the fun part.

The lake is littered with fallen leaves in assorted colors.

Thanks for stopping by.  It's pretty quiet here at the lake and we love it.

Jan I never get tired of seeing autumn color photos after spending 29 years in a part of the country where there is no showing of fall colors but these photos are among the best I have ever seen. Well done my friend well done!

Parts of Maine are already at its peak. If it is nice this weekend we will take a fall tour drive around some of the places that are at peak.

I enjoyed this very much. In Missouri, we're in the middle of a week or two of almost constant rain. The trees looked nice on Sunday, which was dry.

I'll post the inside improvements when we get them done. We're waiting for an inspection now. It is getting very cold for working in an unheated room, though.

I haven't been to the west side of the state recently, but the Gladwin & Mt. Pleasant area have awesome colors.

Jan, your "time lapse" photo essays are great! It makes me feel as if I'm there, watching the gradual march of color around your beautiful lake. We don't have a walkout, but we do have two loft bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. I'm not sure why the builders didn't do a walkout, but if we had a basement, you can bet it would be stuffed with stuff! We are terrible pack rats and sentimental, too.

Winter is pushing it's way in on us here too... We're usually in the mid 60's this time of year, but we're lucky if we hit 50.
The trees certainly are gorgeous!

I would love to live by the lake. I once had a house on the shore of Lake Ontario but that was more like living on the Ocean. Your fall photos are lovely!

Living right on a lake is probably one of the most appealing views of seasons, especially autumn when the lake reflects and you have mirror images of fabulous flora ! Thank you for posting and keep warm !

I live in the S.E. part of Michigan, and we're really enjoying the colors here too.....I worry though that the rain we're expecting today will knock alot of the leaves off to early though!
