My husband and I are very selective about what types of movies we will go see. We don't like a whole lot of cussing, violence or sex. Therefore, I'm sure we aren't the typical movie going people, however we still enjoy being entertained. Last week we went to see Cloud With a Chance of Meatballs at a matinee. We saw the non 3-D version. Let me tell you a little bit about the story first.
A scientist is constantly inventing things only to see his inventions fail most of the time. He's pretty persistent though, and this time he tries his hand at hunger. In the town that he lives in, all they eat are sardines, and everyone gets pretty tired of that. He invents a machine to turn water into food. Unfortunately, things go wrong and huge portions fall out of the sky. He must find a way to shut the machine off before it obliterates the world.
This movie is only rated PG, and it's a family movie. It would be appropriate for children as far as content as well as understanding what is happening. Overall, the movie is fairly cute. There are certainly some laugh out loud moments, but there's a message here as well. It is somewhat hokey, but I believe that it's definitely worth seeing and even discussing afterwards. There's even an element of a love story in it.
Possible discussion topics this movie opens up: World hunger, taking the quick way out, being yourself, overindulgence. All in all, I would give this movie a 7 out of 10.

We are not seeing any movies until the two new Tim Burton ones are out. That's our two for the next year. LOL
Rest easy
