I'm looking at the picture and the artist is suggesting that the constitution is devine in it's origin much like the Bible or Koran. That's dangerous because if you take the constitution as from God it can turn into a religion or object of worship all by itself, it can litterally become a golden calf.

Not really happy with this. Too much lacking or wrongly-represented.
He seems to have had good intentions, though... but sacrificed truth and diversity to sell to the RW masses....

I think I must see this picture differently then most. I think he (the artist) "hit the nail on the head". This country was founded as "one nation under GOD" (Jesus in the center) You have the for-fathers behind him. Letting God lead the way. It looks to me like the Democrates and republicans up front with all their own adjendas. Satan lurking in the background and it is a child that will lead the way.....to the constitutions of this country. It is that same Constitution that made us a Great power and if it's abandoned, it will bring us down....... Just my opinion on this painting.

From my point of view, putting Douglas and Tubman in the very back, with no Martin Luther King Jr. who should clearly have been represented upfront, smacks of a RW outlook. And there are two Union soldiers in this pic. Where's the second?

And Jesus' depiction? The author explains it, yes, but obviously his vision didn't come from the Divine since that could not possibly be Jesus projecting himself into it. And the equally blonde child is representative of all the children in the US? Maybe in HIS vision...

One nation, "under God" was not in the original Pledge of Allegiance. It was added in the 1950's.

Our fore fathers did not want religion mixed with politics. And the painting is missing a lot of stuff. Yet, the painter still exudes the same view as the majority, who, btw, is beginning to not be the majority.

I think the artist is a really good artist but one who doesn't quite get it as a real American.

Much as I descry christians using Jesus Christ to justify all sorts of bizarre beliefs and behavior, I'd rather see them use him to support the Constitution that some jihadists using Mohammed to motivate suicide bombings. Imagine...

In Christ day he gave comfort to the lepers. Who were considered unclean and sinful. After all God was punishing them anyone could see. He not only comforted them he cured them. Christ was a liberal he believed in the liberties of all his children. He hung out with a pretty rough crowd didn't he. So why are we as Christians even implying that these people aren't good enough to be loved by us or God ?
Is it really Christian to turn your back on someone who you believe to be a sinner ? Shunning those who need comfort the most ?
