Yesterday, we took the kids to the local Cider Mill, which also has a large pumpkin patch, apple picking, a petting farm, corn maze, haunted mill, and more. It was sunny, but cold yesterday, so we didn't do the corn maze. Gilly's had a cough on and off for almost 2 weeks now, and we didn't want to be out in the cold for too long.
When we got there, we went ahead and picked out our pumpkins first. We each got our own pumpkins, then as we were getting ready to pay, the kids and I each picked out 2 gourds as well.
After finding the perfect pumpkins, we took them out to the car so we could go in and get our cider & donuts. The mill has the most wonderful donuts- always warm, fresh from the fryer, and they have a slightly crispy outer shell to them. They make buttermilk, apple, and pumpkin donuts. The only thing I don't like is that they are pricey. Almost $6 for a dozen!
The mill also allows you to fill your own jug of cider. They have a filling station, and gallon, half gallon, and pint size jugs, complete with stick it on yourself labels and security caps that twist on and lock into place (like what milk caps are- you have to break the seal to get it off).
We filled 1 gallon (also price- $4.99!! I just got a gallon earlier in the week in Lansing for $1.99!), and went out to eat our donuts up. We let the kids play for a bit, then headed home. We had a fun time!
