After years of having to wait for the one thing he most pines for (materialistically), after repeatedly hearing "stop looking at motorcycles online; we can't afford anything right now", Nic finally found a bike that he loves and was able to convince me to get before the move.
He's like a little kid at Christmas.
Having a motorcycle, and a motorcycle license are just about 'requirements' for going to the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute, which he starts in February for training as a Harley Davidson Technician. Most dealerships will not hire you as a technician without at least 1 year experience - and because Nic never had a motorcycle license before (he seemed to think you didn't need it in Alabama if you had a regular license . . . back as a teenager?) we had to get the ball rolling.
So I gave him a limit as to how much we could spend, and asked him not to look until we actually made the move to Florida. I did not want to worry about how to get the motorcycle down there with everything else.
We are currently 'temp' workers for my Dad and the day before starting I asked Nic if he wanted to waste some time going to a Harley Dealership and just looking around. When we went we saw a 1975 Ironhead Sportster that was a trade-in that they were selling for $2500. It came with a whole box of parts.
We didn't buy that bike.
BUT - one of the men who worked there was selling his 1977 Ironhead Sportster for the same price. We went to go look at it, and decided it was worth it.
So . . . that's how we went from 'not until Florida' to this:

Can't say that I blame him, though.
My man in the 70's road a - (now if I can remember what the thing was called), a chopper, with a suicide seat or something rather. It was so long it took a block to turn it around!
My mother way back when has a photo of her on a Indian a b/f of hers had and my oldest boy again is working at a Harley shop.
I was offered a "pounder puff" however I can not even get licensed to drive!!
WARNING; these bikes are addictive and runs in families :0)
Congratulations to him!
congrats to Nic though.
you both look so very happy
