Because of the latest Dan Brown Book 'The Lost symbol', there is a lot of talk about the Freemasons. I personally don’t believe in all the conspiracy theories about it, however many people do. At one time in this country, it is estimated that almost 80 percent of the adult males belong to it.
Â
In the past, organizations like the Mason, Shriners, Odd Fellows, Rebeccas and the Eastern Stars were very popular. It really helped to get jobs not too many decades ago.
My father belonged to the International Order of Odd Fellows and many of my uncles were Masons. As far as I know, today I have only a couple of cousins still alive who are Masons.
Â
I do know the medical care given by some of them to children are extremely important.
A couple of my grandchildren would not be alive if it were not for them. There are many other important & valuable operations supported by these groups
Â
It seems to me these organizations are dwindling. I really don’t understand why, unless it’s just a matter of being out of fashion or people no longer really caring much about making sacrifices for charitable works and /or to have a sense of belonging.
Â
Â
Where do you belong?
Are you a member of any organizations like this?
If so, which ones and how involved are you?
If not, why not?

They took care of my great grandmother and her children after her husband died leaving her to raise 5 children alone. Long before there was public assistance. They also buried her.
I think people are just falling away, due to money situations, they don't have the time due to work, computers, etc. just my opinion.
I know all of the groups are great.
=)
Some of us refuse to give up our identity for a group.
These organizations are dying, because they would not adjust to the changing demographics in our population.
Limitations and a refusal to change have caused the death of many of these groups.
