It's pretty much overcast here with a chill in the air. I've been out in it this mornin' runnin' errands already & am thinkin' tho' I've another errand or 2, I may just save it for tomorrow & snuggle up inside with the dogs for the balance o' the day.
Well I decided to go ahead & get the running done, now am home to puter play for the night. That looks like a good thing, as it's even more dreary looking now than earlier. I hope you don't get stuck in the rain at football again, gheesh!
To answer your question...I do one or the other, and in this case the words were written first. I was on the phone with an acquaintance who is fast becoming a friend, something she said had me thinking in terms of our friendship voyage, so as we chatted, I jotted the verse. Then I had to find a photo to match, as closely as possible, the vision I held in mind while chatting and writing. This one was fairly easy to find, as I knew it would be, for I run across many ships at sea in my photo browsing.
Most often for my writings, I have a general topic or theme in mind, so the photo I'm in search of is already a vision in my head at the same time the words are forming in my mind. I think I must have a million images and words dancing around in my head at all times, always screaming to be displayed, portrayed! So these creations are generally "right there" so to speak.
I'm amazed that you can write an original poem for each image on a daily basis. Such talent! The boat at sunset is gorgeous and my new favorite. Lovely poem to match, Ruthi. I enjoyed reading your explanation to Len above as well.
I'm amazed that I can too, hahaha! I keep waiting for the mornin' writers block to bring me to a halt! It's good training for me to write a poem every day, even if they all aren't written to perfection, I'm writing, learning, doing something useful! Oh, so you're like me, you read all the comments? I get lost in reading comments all the time...it's interesting as the original post, sometimes moreso :-)
I love this particular image and poem, Ruthi. I sure miss that sailboat. There is nothing like having the wind in the sails and moving right along with the waves. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
