Or at least it seems that way. The older I get, the more things I find not working they way they once did. LOL. Some of you may remember my last post about having female issues. Well I did have the cryotherapy done and am still recovering from that. I won't find out if it worked for at least 3 months.
But anyway, during all this, I had also been going to an orthopedic doctor for pain and movement problems in my shoulder/arm/neck. She had sent me to try physical therapy for a few months. That did help the movement issues but there was still a lot of pain. She ordered an MRI and I got the results last week. I have not one but two herniated discs in my neck. I am not in immediate danger of needing surgery so she wants me to keep doing the excercises I was taught in physical therapy, which by the way, were geared towards my shoulder. I go back in about a month and if there is no improvement, she wants me to go for an epidural steroid injection. I read up about it and it doesn't sound very pleasant to me.
So, my question to you........does anyone have any experience with this or know someone who has? I am looking for any info especially exercises I can do. Those ones for my shoulder sometimes makes the pain worse. I am also looking for opinions on any holistic approach. I'll try anything.
Thanks for taking the time to read about this months aches and pains. LOL. I have included some pictures from my MRI. I don't know how to read them but I find them interesting to look at. LOL

she was in traction for about a month and then they started p/t and personal messages of the neck and spine.....
she finally started a job that she mopped 5 floors an evening for a company a friend of our's had just started...
she does lots and lots of heavy lifting now at both of her jobs....
now there's one of those great stories....
something to do tonight.....
Very cool pics of you! definately interesting
Good luck and healing energy coming your way.
Sorry to hear of your pains, they are a pain hu? My attempt at humor :0)
I have been diagnosed with several arthritis. Four that I can think of right now and it is still iffy on the rheumatoid arthritis. Weird one doctor said yes the other said no , so??
I had the shots in both my elbows. But I really cant remember what shot it was.... one is only supposed to have so many in there life time. That was back in the ... early 90's.
My arms all stem from a old injury, that , well was not taken care of properly. My bone was exposed to the air to long is how one doctor explained it. Infection set it.
Anyhoo the shot I am told some people take to it well, others do not. I am unable to extend my arms out for any length of time just because. Only 5-10 pounds can I lift and that is recommended with my braces on.... I was one the shots , well you will do fine!!
There is also the electric shock thingy, where they take this car battery type thing and put needles into you and put the juice to ya. If you have not had this done and you have to do it, great. But really if you can get away with not having it......
I find a hot tub was the best thing I ever had!! But I do not have one any longer ( I cant afford it). Fish oils, oh visionair a member here is really good about the herbs and such! Omega something. I try and eat as much salmon as I can, I also have the fish capsules.
Now the ibrophen (sp) is a anti inflammatory and you can get big doses from the doctor. However I am told this is where my itching is coming from - side effect. It is also real bad for your stomach. So eat something if taking this. I have been on it for over 30 years now. I try to alternate such things, there when Advil first came out I used the both until the Advil no longer worked. Creams and messages work (my man does this).
You have heard that if you do not use it you loose it? Try to work through the pain, I no all to well it hurts, but...... I do use alternative medicine when I get a chance, but like conventional medicine it to manipulates the body and if abused can hurt the body. So just because it is a herb still treat it like it is a drug. Natures drugs lol!
I felt like I was 100 when I was a teenager.....
Wish you well ok
I suppose they know what they're doing, but I'm surprised you're doing exercises instead of resting your neck in a brace. I'd think exercise would make aggravate the pain.
It would be nice if the shot would fix your problem, but those risks like paralysis would make anyone wonder if they should do that. I dunno what I'd do. Have you researched how risky the surgery is?
good luck
i'm sorry you're having so much pain. the reason for the excercises for the shoulders....those are the stongest muscles that help hold your cervical area in place. i have a herniated disc at c5 (it looks like you have c4 & c6, but i'm not a doctor); so i know what you're feeling. i'm not a fan of the steroid injections. for many people it's just a bandaid for the problem.
most insurances who cover p/t only do so up to 3 months. imho i don't think that's enough time. doing the excercises at home will help, but electro-stimulation & heat really helped me a bunch. i don't have any suggestions for holistic remedies; i never looked into them. have you done any online searches? or do you know a massage therapist or chiropractor you could talk to?
i'm going to check out right now, why i'm not getting emails when you post. i hope you feel better & keep in touch ok?? {{hugs}}
hope ya feel better soon
What ever you do, avoid surgery at any length. Very painful and most people have to have multiple surgeries with minimal relief.
