Second go at this - I don't know how the gremlins know when to eat my posts - but they always do seem to know when I've forgotten to copy before I hit submit. How long has it been since Gather's publishing got so wonky and unreliable?
More than long enough to spend some time fixing it, seems to me, but oh well... their time is obviously WAY more important than ours.
Anyway, enough bitching. That's not what I had intended to write about.
What I had intended to write about is the fact that today I am motivated. Woke up to an email from my citizenship class prof telling us that she needs to cancel class this week.
So, no class tomorrow, so no need to head back to Peterborough until tomorrow. Which is very cool - makes today a found day in which to get bunches of stuff done.
Going to the poetry thing this weekend was very good for me. A couple of days before that, Ross & I had had a conversation about the fact that I took English at university because I love to write - but that since I had started full time, I really haven't done much actual writing.
And then hanging out with all of those writers - some of whom took the time not only to ask me about my own work, but also to nag me to get back to is - just added to it - I need to get back to creative writing.
Yesterday I did the reading for 3 courses, and started thinking about the first of 3 short papers I need to write for my core course later this month.
And then I put that all away and got out my YA novel and read it. Found a few minor continuity issues that needed fixing - and did that - but other than that, it is in surprisingly good shape and now, having re-read it and refamiliarized myself with my characters and story - I'm ready to move forward.
I still have some other work I need to get done as well today - that short paper I mentioned, and I promised Z some screenshots of my work on the PK Page digital archive (so that he can use them in his grant proposal) - just got back from visiting Hank and Valerie (Ross' sister) where I borrowed Hank's scanner to do the one page that I needed for that. So - as soon as I finish rambling - I am going to download that, and do the Image markup for it, and then I will do my screenshots and send them off to Z.
And then I'll whip off (ha!) the first of the three short papers - and a proposal for at least one conference paper - and then my reward will be that I get to get back to Amanda and George and Stephen and Candi and Mel and .... well, all of my characters - I am excited about finishing Amanda's story.... cuz once that's done, I can send it out and try to find a publisher for it, and get going on Candi's .... and George's... and maybe then, Tom's although that could change. They all have stories; I just need to take the time - make the time - to get them written DOWN.
Am working on a poem too - started writing it during the poetry colloquium and its been working itself out in the back of my mind ever since.... hopefully it too will find its way onto the page today.
Remembered to copy this time - what do you want to bet it posts, no problem?

Have fun with all you need to do :0)
Good luck with your poetry. I'm always impressed by those that can write poetry, I am incredibly inept at it but have learned to just appreciate that I should leave poetry to others.
Enjoy your found day!
ps, as I write I save to draft (bottom choice on create post) next to submit.
I learned early on to write elsewhere and cut-paste into Gather whether it is a post or extended comment. Just don't trust those Gather gremlins to behave themselves...even three years later.
way to go THANKS FOR SHARING
Sounds like everything is going well Flit...that's great. How's Ross's business coming? Get the web site finished yet?
and nope, haven't added to it in ages - need to do that one o' these days.
This colloquium that you went to sounded better somehow than some of the other events you have gone to. I don't know, it could have been your enthusiasm about this one, but glad it turned out to be so enjoyable. There's nothing worse than a dry, boring event. And this one actually motivated you to go back to your writing. This is good.
So it worked. Waiting on the rings - after I get to my goal weight will get them all resized; for now, I'm just being careful.
DON"T SLING HANDS!
Did anyone take a photo of you?
Actually, de Cicco was taking bunches of pictures - and told me to email him, too...so maybe I will
