i took my buffalo drum outside with me
and sat in the grass
under the silver maples
the wind swished in the grasses
while the distant crows argued
and the blue jays called
and the nuthatches complained
i closed my eyes
and began to drum
time had no meaning just then
an hour passed...mayb more...maybe less
and i drummed
i sensed the sweet spirits and their power
all around me, dancing in the grass
i drummed and felt the vibrations
and the humming
and the rhythms
in every portion of my being
my head fell back
i stopped drumming
my eyes were open
to see the soft blue sky
of a perfect autumn day
a white stallion of a cloud
galloped across half the sky
and became an eagle
that took flight
to the otherworlds
