No it's not, Chuck. Evolution is a theory that cannot be proven. It's not right to teach kids that nothing created something out of nothing when there is no proof. We have to start making sure that the story of Creation is taught right along side the theory of evolution. Depending on which poll you believe, in the US somewhere between 55 and 92% of Americans believe in a Creator God or spiritual/universal spirit.

They can teach both let the kids and the parents decide what is best for them then have only one side taught.

Why not teach kids about the story of Creation?? I see nothing wrong with letting the kids, not the teachers or school district dictate what they the kids should learn without giving them a choice in the matter. If I could, I would put my son in private school to get the type of education he should get, not the education the government thinks he should receive.

Exactly, Diana. With as many people who believe in Creation, the public schools do everyone a disservice not teaching kids about what so many believe. And since evolution is merely a theory, they should teach about both. That would be a well rounded education. When my son was in private school and when he was home schooled, he learned about both. Even when his faith struggled, he understood that it was imposible for nothing to create something out of nothing.

The trouble with the article is that it's based on a serious misunderstanding of what science is all about. I'd call it a classic example of straw man reasoning except that I don't think the author realizes his mistake.

He assumes that science is about truth with a capital T. It gets worse from there.

Only in the sense that inductive reasoning is always open ended. Mind you, science doesn't claim to have proved anything. Science is only about the best explanation we can come up with for natural phenomena through inquiry that uses the scientific method. The great thing about science is that every scientific principle is always open to question.
