I wrote this originally in 2007. Also, I painted the moon painting in 2008. I thought it would be fun to add some of my different photos in between each stanza that go with it.
Gifts of Autumn
by Anne Marie '07
Cool crisp even air
filled with smells of nature’s bounty
Pumpkins, apples, and corn
Gifts of Autumn

Fires blazing under the harvest moon
roasting marshmallows
and making s’mores
Memories to hold dear

Children dressed up in costumes
ringing doorbells with great anticipation
Hoping for a bag full of treats

Hayrides, carnivals, and games
come each year in October

Nature celebrates
decorating with gold, reds,
and leaves of yellow and orange

The last leaf will fall,
but it isn’t farewell.
Spring will wait patiently
for its turn.
