I think just about everyone is familiar with cottage cheese. I use it a lot when I make lasagna, and I've always heard it mentioned along with dieting. I've never thought of what I could do with it myself, though.
I know that non-fat or low-fat cottage cheese is fairly good for you. It's got a good amount of protein, plus it's fairly low in calories.
Recently, I made lasagna, and I had some cottage cheese leftover in the fridge. I didn't want to waste it, and so I decided to try some on toast. It actually wasn't half bad. Next time, I'd like to try putting a little cinnamon with it. I think that would be yummy.
After that, I thought, well, I wonder if it would be good as a grilled cheese sandwich. You can make grilled pimento cheese. Why not do a grilled cottage cheese sandwich. So I tried that. That wasn't half bad either, although, I thought it needed salt. It was a little mild. Maybe, if you added a little salsa to it, it would kick it up a notch (so to speak.)
Have you tried cottage cheese? What have you done with it, other than lasagna?

I have never put cottage cheese in lasagna and the thought of it there sounds gross. I've always used ricotta cheese.
I almost forgot one of my favorites, cottage cheese and apple butter, it's great.
I use cottage and peaches as a quick breakfast dish. When I don't feel like cooking. Or as a snack.
Cottage cheese can be used in an assortment of dishes and taste great. Such in stuffed shells. Yummy...I posted a recipe early this year of it.
