My comment was :
Anyone see the old SNL show when Richard Pryer and Chevy did that skit? It was so funny!! =D Cathi will know and maybe find the video clip. =p |
======
The article that was wrote had comment's on why is it ok for a black person to call another black person the N word but not ok for someone else too. I think Richard Pryer and Chevy's skit was perfect for that article. So I made the comment and asked Cathi to find it. I think it explain's it all! I was not trying to make a joke out of her post. Next thing I know, I belong to a KKK group and I am a racist and am makeing nasty comments about her Grandchild. "INSANE"!! Those of you who know me, know, that is not even a possibilty. I ask that you do the research, go through the ping's and my comment. Well you are at it, go through Cathi L. ping's/comment's as well. I asked her to find that clip. Now she is under fire from fool's who would rather beleive untruths then to research the source.

How does liking this skit make one a racist?
What IS wrong would have to be the continuous commentary on that same post of accusations. The accusations have gone from not wanting a "joke" on her post to now she is protecting little children from us.
All of the nasty pings. The inclusion of her friend to start the pings. The comments from her on other people's posts about what a horrible thing was done.
It would seem less stressful to actually ask about the video and discuss with us than to create fictional stories and spread them far and wide.
The words on this video are the original Chase and Pryor script. The video is of McCain and Obama, but audio was changed to the original Chase and Pryor script.
I do remember having seen it at the time, and afterward....
I do remember feeling at the time - before I was in Boston and when I saw it in Boston that it was.....too......
Here
So, thanks for explaning this to me. I remember that skit too. Love SNL and that skit was hilarious. No reason to bash and harass you for that. I kept seeing " Stop the Hate" pings to you, lol. I don't see where you were doing anything hateful at all. Hats off to you for standing up to this crap.
(And the first two don't count.......)
They DO come out of the woodwork, don't they? Cockroaches !
It's really too bad that 'some' don't have a clue and even if they did, they wouldn't know what to do with it.
It just isn't worth losing any time or sleep over....
Cindi this will pass. People just misread, or forget this is 2D and there is a 3D person on the other side...
RIP Richard Pryor... You taught me that people can be socially conscious and entertaining at the same time.
The greatest SNL Skit was from 1975 and starred Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor and was called "Word Association". It was by far the most cutting edge skit on the show and is beyond hilarious.
Sad commentary: Today probably more of George Carlin's "7 words you cannot say on television" can now be said on TV than the words used in "Word Association"
Word Association (first aired on December 13, 1975)
Most television shows like to play it safe during their first year, but during its inaugural season, SNL put on one of the ballsiest and most shockingly hilarious sketches ever written. It was a simple premise, in which an HR rep interviews a black man using a word association questionnaire that quickly devolves into both of them screaming racial slurs at each other. What made this skit truly amazing was the brilliant delivery of the lines by Chevy Chase and guest host Richard Pryor as they slowly transition from cool professionalism to blind rage. I know that the word “brilliant” is rarely attributed to Chevy, but his performance here is really remarkable, as was Pryor’s. ”Word Association” is a great indication of just how daring SNL was. This sketch would never make it on the air nowadays, but thank God NBC gave it the green-light back in 1975.
enough said.
You do not have to defend yourself.
A SNL skit is just that "a skit"...come in late from partying, watch the show in a daze and laugh at everything, even though some of it was not funny. (except for the belushi, ackroyd, curtin, radner, chase, morris etc..crew... they were very funny!)
Plain and simmple the word needs to go. But I don't see it happening any time soon.
Wait, did I just get ducks mad at me?
I take that as a yes..... lol
unless you're real tight with your homeeeees....
we pass it around pretty regularly, but we all did work our butts off together....
BTW---
I am that grain of salt in the pepper shaker....
Don't worry about the unwanted reaction. Some people will react to anything. You gotta have a thick skin to dare to go where you went. Chin up, you can take it. We live in a very race sensative world and you probably hurt some unsophisticated feelings.
I think it's maybe something similar to women using the "B" or "C" word amongst themselves, they reclaim power; by stripping away the negative meaning assigned to the words.
You are right, Ellen. Remember how in the Harry Potter books they always called Voldemort "he who must not be named?" That gave Voldemort power that Harry refused to honor.
I am not so sure about the name calling, though. I am, however, glad that Cindy and Cathi have maintained their friendship.
I agree that the Harry Potter books have been given a bad rap by a few groups. They are always here.
Name calling is never a good thing.

I dont give a good crap what they think of me.. I have said, this
before..... God knows whats in my heart , not these people unless, they are psychic.. If they are, they should be getting a paycheck for it and I dont see this happening....lol
When they start paying my bills and keeping me, then I will care what they say, but until then... just sit back and laugh at them... because this is all they have... it will go nicely with their single digit IQs.....
In the meantime, keep coming up with those good comments that you put out there....
Future generations are going to look back at this as a dark intellectual age because of stuff like that. "Unspeakable words" ridiculous.
To me it is a skit that shows how the racial slurs go back and forth and how people who are doing that sound like kids arguing over something stupid. It's like a humorous way to call attention to a problem and try to help stop it. If that makes any sense, I just got up.
On your home page, go to "MY comments, and click on that. WHen THAT page comes up, one can click on all, declined and removed. Once you click on removed, you will be able to share your comments and show why your "foe" is wrong.
It gets stupid sometimes.
