October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
On behalf of all who suffered as children and those suffering now due to living in a home with spousal abuse present, I hope to give voice. God Bless.
Blood
And more blood
Splattered on the wall
Custom designed
Puddles
Sticky on the floor
In the hall
Smudged
On crushed silver
Mangled and bent
And dripping on the sofa
Where it finally fell.
These are scenes of childhood
Home
Of children's spiraling fall
Into hell
Who cries for the children
Who may not cry for themselves
Who speaks for the children
Who can not speak for themselves
Who will shield young eyes
Too frightened to close
Who
Will Stop
The flow of blood
For the child who sees
Who knows
This is my mother's blood
This is my father's blood
And mixed
This is my blood.

Unfortunately, there's too much of this sad horror in our world...
of bones and love
Let's not forget those subjected to verbal abuse...
sticks and stones can break my bones and names can ever hurt me.
The voice you've given is a Clarion Call.
Well written,lynnie..
And God Bless the little children
The innocent children have no choice but to sit quietly for fear they willbe next.
Abuse leaves a trail of bent, broken, and damaged people. They range from the very young to the very old. All have lost chunks of their souls they will never get back.
Your poem was amazing.
God Bless you and your strength dear heart,,, your voice is so very, very important,,,
it is sad to know that we have advanced so much in technology and so little spiritualy but I see more and more people trying to find god within and share love with others.
thank you for such a beautiful post
This is so very true. Who speaks for the children, the abused? WE DO! Off and on throughout the year, not just one month, for abuse is not happening in just one month. Yes, it leaves scars, forever too, we were emergency foster care parents, years ago and we got mostly young teens - abuse victims. Scarred for life, but one can also know and learn, what they don't want to be like, in many cases, their own parents.
We do need more advocates though.
Ten stars from me as well,
Marilyn
That was amazing. There is no excuse for domestic violence
"Who will shield young eyes
Too frightened to close" -- to this day I have insomnia, which began at about age 4. It is an unforgivable thing what some children are exposed to.
