Riverboat Molly's History and Hauntings Bookstore (515 East Third Street) in Alton, IL, hosts the American Ghost Society Open House tomorrow (Saturday, 10/03) from noon to 5pm. Speakers will be giving 45 minute-or-so presentations. Featured are Troy Taylor on the St Louis Exorcist House, Adam White on Ghost Hunting 101, Andrea Primble on Southern Illinois Ghosts, Jeremiah Niere on Zombie Road, and more. The speakers are authors and/or members of the American Ghost Society. I believe all the after hours events, for which you need to pay a fee, are booked up.
Great event...totally free...I try to attend every year.
And the bookstore itself is great. Half the books are on ghosts and related topics. The other half is made up of books on select topics in cluding the Civil War, Sherlock Holmes, H.P. Lovecraft, the Wild West, Illinois history, true crime, and trains and transportation. Although the bookstore is closed to normal foot traffic, attendees are free to buy whatever books they want. Authors with published books will be selling their (autographed) books as well.
One of my favorite special events and the price is right. Everything working out as plannd, I expect to be taking a couple friends with me tomorrow.
