My Favorite Park is still Flooded

I hiked into my favorite city park, the one at the river where I take quite a few of my photos, Tuesday afternoon.  I had to hike because the road into the park is closed due to flooding that hit the area due to excessive rain, last week.  This is what I found.

 

Before:  Taken from the edge of the parking lot facing north.

 

After: Facing north/northeast about 60 foot from where I took the before photo

 

 

Facing north, the trees were 15 ft above the river.

The cabana and fireplace are both underwater as is the entire parking lot.  It would be weeks before the water level drops since this river feeds into a near by lake that is over it's banks.  It really is a mess.

That is such a shame it was a really pretty park, I hope it is restored to its formerly lovely self.

Oh my, what a shame, it sure will be a mess to clean up after the water receeds. Hope it happens soon Kat. So sorry the park is flooded.

Wow, it's still a mess out there. Is this Rope Mill Park by chance? I was trying to figure out where you walk the river in Woodstock and then I remembered I had two caches placed (on high ground) in Rope Mill Park.

Hope it was very high, lol. The flooding reached the gates at the entrance of the park.

Well, if you are down in the parking lot and face the interstate. Walk towards where that gravel road for the gas/electric is gated off almost at the interstate. It was probably 80-100 feet straight up the left side of the embankment. Not sure where the park gate is since the park didn't have a gate when I hide the cache, but it's pretty high ground.

The other one was up in the woods, closer to where they were last clearing and area for housing I believe. There's no way the water got up there.

I took my photos at the gate a week after the rain and it was obvious that the water had been much higher. I hiked in from the road you are talking about, there is a subdivison there now.

How close did the water get to the interstate overpass? My cache is closer to it than to the roadway.

Wow. Great pics. I remember having some serious floods when I was growing up, and the water does seem to take forever to recede

ya, still there is water.Nice shots.I wonder from where did you take these?
Wow, that hurts to look at. I never knew or thought Georgia flooded, as we moved for awhile to Florida and it did there. But Georgia? I've been reading Jan (Jax's) posts also and it truly just doesn't seem real.

This is sad.

Wow, that is a lot of water! I had 8ft in my first home from a flood, I know how destructive water can be.....I hope it isn't too bad when the water finally recedes!
