I have to be getting old

Nothing annoys me more then making me have to listen to your music. I don't mind listening if it is music I like, but when you are listening to rap with a bunch of swearing around my kids I do mind.

Today someone was sitting out side my house listening to Emiem.. Normally I don't mind him, but I don't care for his lyrics around the kids, as a matter of fact, I LOVED the song he was listening to so I waited a few to see if he would turn it down since there is not a lot of room between houses here.

He did not. Next I notice my windows and walls are rattle (figuritively (sp) speaking of course).. So I walk out there and I am very nice and asked him very nicely to turn it down and I give the kid credit he looked at me and said he was sorry and turned it right down..

The reason why I say I am getting old, is because not even 4 years ago I would not have cared, but now that I have kids I have to watch every thing that they take in...

Am I alone in this or do get annoyed to when some one is shaking the walls and windows in your house???

Ps I know it was the middle of the day and I am sure he was not expecting people to be home, but still the same I was taught as a child when you enter a sub you should down your music or when you are a stop light to turn it down because not everyone likes the same kind of music

my girls & their friends were told that the music had to be down before they came into the driveway. it's a respect issue. at least the kid didn't hassle you about it!!

I get VERY angry and upset......we have a very inconsiderate single mom and two young kids, who seems to think that everybody loves her stupid boombox music.....it is so doggone loud, it DOES shake our windows.......I loathe it with a passion....plus, my husband works graveyard shift so sleeps during the days, but, of course, she doesn't care.
Anyhow, one day hubby WAS up and another vehicle was over there....it was soooo loud, we couldn't hear ourselves think. He got really mad, got dressed, opened the door and asked the people if they really wanted their radio!!!!!!! Said he could take care of it......LOL!!!!!! I said the next time it happens, I will go and call the police.
I cannot believe how inconsiderate some people can be about their doggone loud music. It is extremely irritating!

You're not getting old. I feel the same way. I can't stand it when my doors and windows are closed int he house, and I can hear someones radio as clear as day in my living room. When your radio is louder than my tv, you have it up way to loud. How can they even hear if a firetruck, ambulance, or cop needs to get by if their music is sooooo loud!!!!! You are not alone on this one. It also bothers me when people swear around children. I don't swear around my kids (unless it slips) or anyone else's kids. I would like that same respect shown to my kids by others.

It's not so much the type of music, but, the lyrics that upset alot of parents, including me. I used to have a neighbor who had a very ignorant son. My daughter could be standing right next to her Dad and he wouldn't think twice before he'd utter a swear word. My hubby told him to watch his language, to which he replied, "It's not like she hasn't heard it in school!!" My hubby sent my daughter inside and told this guy off, in no uncertain terms. He said, "I know she's heard it before, but, this is my property and so if you're going to keep talking like that, get off my property or your Dad and I are going to have a talk!!"

Needless to say, he made sure to watch his P's and Q's around my daughter.

I think I have been getting the same way. I hate it when the teens and just rude people in general do this. I think it is due to my age! LOL ;p

I don't think it is that we are getting older, we are changing, getting more mature and responsible and having children can really change that too.
I used to like louder music and now can't stand it. I liked rock n roll and now I've changed to classical more? I really have started liking those Lifescapes cds.

I go through this with Brandon. I get tired of going upstairs to tell him to turn it down. I just bang real hard on the heat or air vent, that drives him nuts. He feels the vibration.

When my daughter was young, she and her friends listened to soft rock. It used to drive me crazy. Both my kids turn down the radio when they get in the car.
I listen to many different styles of music (Eminem is one of my faves), but it's inconsiderate to think people 50' away should be serenaded at any time of the day.
